First there were woodchuck babies, then catbird babies (although that didn’t end well) , a quick glimpse of a fox baby, and fawns! Finally… fawns.
But now?
We have skunk babies!!
Simply too much cuteness.
Adorable little critters!
I wasn’t able to film or photograph the funniest part because it was too dark, and that’s a shame because the husband and I had tears in our eyes from laughing so hard.
Our deer came up to feed and those three little fellas chased her all over the yard. In a line… one, two, three… like a little skunk locomotive.
For 20 straight minutes they wouldn’t let her near the food, no matter how she tried.
To heck with guard dogs.
Get a skunk.
Otherwise known as a….
Our dogs used to kill skunks and then come home as if they didn’t stink to high heaven. We’d bury the skunks, but even with their bad smellers, our boxers would find the dead skunk and dig it up again. We tomato juiced them a few times, but it was a losing battle…

They’re adorable, but smell revolting for sure. The sent clings to the air for hours as well. Ours rarely spray, but when they do?

You have Bambi AND Flower; but where is Thumper?

You know, it’s odd. We have had literally every wild animal Maine has to offer…. bear and moose included… but we have never had a rabbit. How weird is that?

That IS weird, indeed.

The deer will just eat them – skunks and bears too, rabbits may come, but there is no guarantee.

There are skunks around my house, but fortunately no skunk babies in the yard. Again this year, the dumb bunny built a nest in the yard, and again this year Puppy Cody found it before I did. I so hate when that happens.

Ours live way down in the woods and just show up for a nosh in the evening. But no, dog and skunk is not a good mix…

I’ll never forget my 6th grade friend and neighbor Maurice and his pet skunk in the Bronx!!!

They make wonderful pets. Very clean, very loving. Once their stinky parts are removed. Sadly, Maine has outlawed it… otherwise I might have scooped up a baby!

Adorable, and not very fussed about maintaining personal space, it seems.

I used to think skunks were kind of cute….until one got elected President.

Skunk babies unite!
They are so sweet. With that said, do you ever worry about rabies with all the wild critters on your land? Isn’t it awful that I associate rabies with skunks as easily as I associate their intense odor with them? And just for you, River I give you this: https://youtu.be/Uu5hzc2Mei4
Enjoy!
Stinkin’ to high heaven!

We’ve never had a rabid animal, that I know of. But yes… we also view them from inside the house.
As for the video? A classic!

I was going to leave you an animal emoji of a skunk. But there isn’t one and that just stinks. Cute post you got going on here.

I can loan you a rabbit or three to complete your Bambi Backyard. I absolutely LOVE skunks and am so jealous of your babies! Congratulations! You need to do a nature documentary one of these times from your habitat…

I’d take you up on the bunnies, but I’m afraid our fox pair would make short work of them…. which probably explains why we never see any.

Skunks have gorgeous coats that should work as a warning to predators, including dogs, but…not with my two. Three skunk sprayings in the past year, two of which I watched, horrified, as it unfolded, helpless to stop it. Why didn’t they learn after the first experience? I keep plenty of hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and Dawn on hand now, just in case.

They’re sweet… but definitely stinky. You’d think one spraying would be enough for the pooch though…

They’re adorable! My dog always finds them, and unlike your deer, she is seemingly never deterred.
