Since our spring was so late and cool, things have been blooming a bit more slowly this year.
But no matter when it blooms, if there’s any better smell than fresh lilacs?
I’ve yet to find it.
Though honeysuckle comes in a close second.
This one doesn’t look like much from far away…
But up close it’s pretty sweet.
These Mallow I planted a few weeks ago have quickly become my favorite new bloomer.
Naturally when I went back to the nursery for more they were sold out.
Boo to that.
June in Maine means rhododendrons…..
As well as Lupine.
And I love these purple beauties!
I love purple. I need to get new photos of my flowers.

So that’s what those beautiful flowers are called, the mallows I mean. We have them here around campus and they bring such a pop of color. I love the garden here at work, the landscapers really do a great job keeping it green and lush. Just like your house!

In case I haven’t mentioned it during all the snark and sass of my comments, the landscaping at your Manor is really quite lovely and beautiful. (See? I can be sweet. Sometimes.)

Excuse me, I may need to sit down.
Please give some warning the next time you throw out a compliment okay? It can be shocking to the system.
But thank you.

Those Mallows grow like weeds. I am continually hacking them out of my driveway edges.

I’m loving them. No hacking needed.

You can always get a Amorphophallus titanum. *https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amorphophallus_titanum*
(or three) to offset all that sweet/lovely smell.

Why?
It’s the perfect plant for… a certain treeline where there is a newly built tree house.

Lilac is the best scent on the planet. I like that mallow! Perennial? If yes, what zone are you? I’m zone 4.

We’re zone 5b. Rated 10 to 15 below, though I’ve seen it drop lower….. and yes, it’s a perennial.

I’ll have to check it out and see if there are any varieties that go to 4 or lower. When I asked you what your zone is, I kinda felt like I was asking, “Hey baby, what’s your sign?” but in a garden-geek kind of way: “Hey baby, what’s your zone?”
