Welcome to the family… I think.

.

Meet our new family member.

.

.

The cat my husband swore we wouldn’t have any more of after our last one passed because he wanted to be free to travel.

.

.

This handsome fellow has been wandering our neighborhood (in the cold Maine winter!) for weeks. A woman down the road took him in, but her dogs kept attacking.

.

.

Our farming neighbors across the street took him in, but they have 4 cats, 2 dogs and 3 kids in a 1,000 square foot house…. so they begged us to shelter him.

.

.

The husband said yes, temporarily while we tried to find his owners.

He’s clean, healthy, flea and ear mite free… and a genuine love bug. Someone clearly cared for this kitty. But after posting on numerous lost pet sites, numerous local Facebook pages and asking everyone I know? It looks like he’s ours.

And the husband who said no way, no more pets?

.

.

Yeah.

He’s been charmed.

.

.

And to think it only took three days.

Such is the power of cats.

💕

  1. I am more of a dog lover than a cat lover…dogs are devoted to you…cats are too fickle with their emotions but this one truly does appear warm, loving and interested! He is a handsome furry creature!! And your husband looks truly charmed! Many years of happiness with this guy!

  2. He’s cute. I think I swore off cats at then a friend called my wife and had one and once I picked him up it was all over. I say him. She said “He’s a cute male” and for the first week we called him Oliver and I kept watching him in the cat box and thinking “Huh. That’s weird how he pees like a girl” – yes, turns out he’s a girl kitty. Over the next few months, we also found out he has a demonic streak and likes to bite – hard. Like you’ll pet him(her) wrong and then you’re bleeding. So we started calling him Karen. Then I called the vet to get her fixed and reserved a spot for Oliver and my son took him/her in and my son called her Karen. So all the paperwork now says “Oliver/Karen” on it. It even says “Oliver/Karen” on the chip. Oh, well. We’ve learned how not to pet her and we all get along. My son was playing with her (I still relelentlessly call her him and also call her Oliver) with one of those pool styrofoam floaty things the other day and Oliver was biting the hell out of it. Which was very enjoyable for all of us, since it didn’t hurt. Hope you guys have as much fun.

  3. I used to think I was strictly a dog person, but my wife’s cats eventually won me over. It took all of about three seconds.
I’m so glad you’ve got a new family member. It’s truly a lucky accident.

  4. Ohhhhh! Poor thing. Clearly it is a house kitty. I wonder what happened to the original owners? And to be bounced from house to house… He looks like a Charlie. Charlie Grey.

I’m so glad you took him in. It appears you both had a need.

    My Ollie approves…*meow*

  5. Congrats and many happy cuddles to you. Very remarkable pattern on one leg which stops but continues on the other. Like many, I’m thinking of names. For some reason I have a germanic theme going on, first it was Klaus (von Lederhosen) but that doesn’t roll of the tongue and I settled on Gustav (when he’s good) or “Carl Gustav Jung!” when he’s naughty. He does appear to have eyeliner on – so maybe a heavy metal artist’s name would fit, too. Of course, I have no say in any of this!

  6. I think it’s fairly clear that Kitty is staying, and good on ya for that. All of the cats that have been in my journey as an adult have been rescues or strays. Once you earn their trust (and it can be hard, sometimes, to do that, because their life has been hard, perhaps only recently or maybe always), they are so grateful for the second chance or maybe even first chance at a happy home.

You’re wise to wait for the name to come to you. And it will…
