I think you all know I adore my state. It’s scenically beautiful and far enough off the beaten path for our weirdos to be considered delightfully quirky. So let me share a few other reasons Maine is a wonderful, if slightly odd, place to live.
.
.
You’d be surprised how often these potentially fatal conversations take place.
.
.
And yet they all try.
.
.
If you’ve never seen a real live moose in person? Trust me…. they’re huge and will total your car when hit.
.
.
Many people will tell you it still tastes like horrible medicine, but I love it. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream? Mm, mm, good.
.
.
I personally know of 7 Hardscrabble Roads… but hey, no one said living in Maine is easy.
.
That first picture alone would keep me out of Maine!! Yes it is a beautiful picture but I wouldn’t want to be in it!! Plus I would rather a friend and I be inside talking than being hit by snow covered limbs!!

We have alligators, a few snakes, and stay inside talking on a hot summer day or month (all 90 or above) for the month of May and beginning of June….you find a few Indian names abound in Florida. Maine might be a nice place to visit but we do like our part of the world.

We lived in NC for 17 years, the summers killed me.

We are in Florida and we are in the middle of a heat wave like you, right now. In the afternoon will come the rains as it is hurricane season.

As much as I say I’d love to live up north, I don’t think I could take the winters. I’ve grown up in far west Texas and can deal with the heat, with almost no humidity.
I’ve tasted Moxie, it does have a medicine-y after taste to it. I’ll stick to Dr. Pepper I think 😎.

The older I get the less I can tolerate the heat. Thank you menopause. 😡

I’ve been to Maine once and even though I was a kid I still remember it as phenomenally beautiful. And also a place with a lot of roadside aquariums, which was cool. I got to hold a sea cucumber and see live scallops at one. This may also have just been a dream since we were there in July but I’d swear it snowed one day. And picking blueberries before breakfast was a great way to start each day.
Yeah, I definitely need to go back, and this time I’ll try Moxie.

We’ve had snow in late May….. but I don’t know about July. That seems crazy, even for Maine. But fresh blueberries for breakfast can’t be beat!

I was just a kid when I went to Maine but I still remember it as phenomenally beautiful. We stayed in a cabin on Green Lake, and went to a couple of aquariums where I held a sea cucumber and saw live scallops. It was in July so this may have just been a dream but I could swear it snowed one day. Somehow that seems believable for Maine.
Yeah, I definitely need to go back, and this time I’ll try Moxie.

Green Lake is up near Bangor, about an hour and a half from us. Maine is really two states…. northern and southern, with cultural as well as scenic differences. It’s perfect if you can experience both. And Moxie. Yes!

An excellent montage of Maine. I enjoyed my one day there in 1999 when I drove up from Boston on a June day in my quest to visit all 50 states.

One day isn’t nearly enough time to savor our magnificence.

Are you insinuating that cocaine is addictive?

Of course not. I’m sure it’s perfectly lovely when only used on special occasions. Like Tuesdays, at 10:15.

I could not survive a Maine winter. I was relaxing by our pool yesterday, a nice 104 degrees and chatting with my mom who lives in Washington where it was 50 degrees. We are planning on visiting her in a couple weeks and I am filling my suitcase with long pants and sweaters!

I’m just the opposite, I melt into a cranky bitch when the temps rise above 75.

What does Moxie taste like? I’ve never heard of it.
Do you have much humidity there?

That was quite the jump between topics but that’s how my brain works. 😂

It’s like a very strong root beer I suppose. As for humidity, it comes and goes. Not normally but climate change has altered Maine weather so drastically anything goes now.

I have a high school friend who lives in Maine and loves it so much more than the Midwest. The winters aren’t really her favorite but she said the summers make it worth it.

The older I get (thank you menopause) the less the winters bother me. There’s beauty in the stark white.

Me too. This was my first winter in menopause and I was in love with it.

I didn’t wear a heavy coat all winter. In Maine!

I wanna come and visit all the quirky weirdos. But only during summertime, I can’t imagine snow or being decapitated by a falling limb.
Girl, you’ve got Moxie. Literally.
Hardscramble. Tell us about it. :0

If you’ve never been here before, I recommend the fall. There’s nothing like autumn in New England!

Well I never been to Maine
But I kinda like the music
Say the ladies are insane there
And they sure know how to use it
They don’t abuse it
Never gonna lose it
I can’t refuse it
