Our new pool table arrived… in pieces and parts.

I wasn’t here when assembly started so I missed the table being positioned, leveled, slated and beeswax sealed …

But arrived in time to see the fabric being laid. ( Upgraded professional fabric, as no mere felt would do for the man cave extraordinare)

If you’ve never had a pool table installed? Let me tell you… it’s a lot of work. These two were at it non stop for over 2 hours.

Now that’s a pool table. It was a dark rainy day so the lighting doesn’t do it justice, but the finish is lovely…

A table worthy of the Barn Mahal.

Please note the husband’s cue stick on the right in the last picture. He was playing as soon as the installation crew left and I had a hard time getting photos without his hovering presence.

I had to drag him out of there for dinner last night and he went right back to play after breakfast this morning. I don’t think I’m exaggerating in the least to say he loves it.

And if we were newly married?

I might be jealous.

  3. Man, I get all swoony every time I look at that place. I own the biggest room in my house but it’s only about 200 square feet. I have managed to turn it into the room I wanted when I was sixteen so I’m not complaining, but boy is that ever nice.

    1. I wasn’t on board at first, the expense has been considerable… and then some! But it really has saved our sanity during Covid. We may not be traveling again, but at least we have a different 4 walls to stare at.

      1. Mine was a sanity saver well before COVID (RRRRRRRRRRRR). Cathy and I operate on different sleep schedules and we figured out we liked one another much better when we both got a decent night of sleep, so I got a bed and put it in what was known at the time as my workshop. Then, BING! it was like magic. Big power tools turn back into cash, which turns into wargaming stuff, workbenches become a massive gaming table and it’s 1977 redux I can (And do) listen to Rush without headphones or play my guitar at 2AM and it’s all good.
        Money, sweat, tears, anger, frustration and more money, totally worth it. I can really smell what you’re cookin’.

      2. It’s a nice escape hatch for sure. But if you can blast Rush and play your guitar at 2:00am without waking up the other half? You must have a house the size of an airplane hangar… or invested in some heavy duty soundproofing.

      3. There’s soundproofing insulation in the inner walls and you have to go around five corners to get from my speakers to her pillow. Yes, I counted just now.
        I recently picked up a Bose Acoustimass system, fifteen bucks at the Habitat for Humanity store (Thank you Jimmy Carter.), which I set up on a separate channel. I get great sound quality, (no shit, right?) at lower volumes. If I really lit it up, 400W coming through JBL and Yamaha studio monitors would not be caged, so I wouldn’t say I was blasting it, but it is still enough to make the hair on the back of my neck stand up (at 2AM). I can also watch Red Green and laugh my ass off with no worries. Good life, covid or not.

  5. Yes! What an upgrade. It is a lovely sight to see and that your honey is so enthralled with it? bonus! Well, until you need him to do something for you.
    I do recall when ours was installed/set up it took quite a while, but it is so fun when people come over and enjoy it with us.

      1. True that. We had a party for my 60th birthday and it was great, but only because of the front porch and other good outdoor places. Normally there would be parties for Halloween and NYE, but that’s a bit different because my birthday is in July. Hopefully this will end soon enough to get back to having a party or at least a wargame.
