Name that crap 2…. The answer.

There were some interesting… as well as disturbing… guesses on this piece of crap.

And a few people were almost there.

The answer –

It’s a Pyrex removable pot handle.

Apparently back in the day you bought a set of bowls that could turn into pots and received one detachable handle.

Handleless pots and potless handles. There you have it.

  1. I am disappointed in you, Rg. When I asked if the metal coil, the clamp part, moved, you said just a little. It moves a whole 180° which is uch more than a little. Now seeing it in action, i have actually used a tool like this, only it did not have a glass handle, it was made of hard rubber. My mother, who died in 1958, had a set of pots similar to these, so it must have been a different brand, I guess. But by her death she had stored them away because other pots with built-on handles had become more popular. I have no idea what ever happened to them, i was only 8 years old, she had a lot of things that would be considered antiques today, including a non-electric steam irom that you had to fill with boiling water in a bell on top of the handle.

      1. Ok, you are forgiven. I knew all along I had seen something like it before, but the memory bank wasn’t allowing withdrawals until I saw it in action.

  2. I really thought it might be some kind of lighting device. People really had some interesting means of magnifying light sources back before electric lights were invented. Now it’s just too darn hard to find a place dark enough to see the night sky clearly.
