These are sure to start a bidding war.

.

I stepped outside to this a while back.

.

.

Because when the husband disappears outside for long periods of time with no contact? I know something is being torn apart.

.

.

This time it was the woodshed, which over the years has become an outdoor repository for everything I want to get rid of but he’s determined to keep. This includes a large amount of bricks, mismatched pavers and random blocks.

.

.

Which he started stacking until he came across a batch of tapered arch building bricks left over from the previous owner. Yes, they’ve been there for 20 years because my spouse is a hoarder and you never know when you’ll need to build an arch.

.

.

He moved them to front of our garage and I rejoiced, thinking the next step would be the dump. I was wrong.

After looking them up online and seeing that new tapered arch bricks sell for $6 a piece … he made me list them for sale. 40 (and 1/2 because he wouldn’t even throw out the broken one) used, dirty, slightly mortared bricks – $80.

It should come as no surprise that after 12 days we have had no offers.

  1. I’d buy that stuff, but then I would have to eat it. I know he had a vision when he first saw them, it happens to me, too. It’s beautiful in my mind until the harsh reality sets in. If you ever have the chance, be sure to ask Cathy about our bathroom floor, a home improvement for the ages.

      1. I can relate to “I might need that someday” (and “someday” has happened on more than one occasion), but I don’t go overboard, and what I save for a rainy day is kept where the wife never goes, like the shed and the basement tool cabinet. Hey, what she doesn’t see can’t hurt her!

  2. Most things I can throw out, but every once upon a time I see potential in a thing. Your bricks, laid side-by-side on the ground should make a great circular flower bed. Aren’t you in the process of trying to outline your square flower bed in stone? I saw the pile of rocks still standing in the background of the first picture. Well, why not use these to make a round flower garden, or, at least an “arch”-looking bed. How many people have flat-arched flower beds? Be the first one in your area!

  3. Oh my…..I though his hoarding stopped at old, ahem sorry antique junk. So he also hoards old bricks, 🤔. I have tons of pavers and bricks too, but I’m not hoarding them I’m just waiting until I can afford a construction disposal dumpster so I can throw them the hell away.
