Just ducky.

Add another favorite to our brew pub list.

We were antique shopping at a large building next door, and since the husband has been known to spend countless hours pouring over the minutia of yesteryear…. yours truly was hungry. Not to mention thirsty.

Enter the White Duck.

.

.

True to it’s name, the place was mostly white.

.

.

Clam chowder? I give it an A.

.

.

Mussels? Husband gave them a solid B+.

.

.

Chargrilled burger and pub fries? I give them an A.

The business is in the middle of expanding with an outdoor seating area, stage for live music, full outdoor bar and soon to come grill with an entirely different menu than indoors. We were also told they’ll be buying the antique store next door and starting their own brewery.

Boo to one less antique store.

Yay to more craft beer.

.

.

And randomly placed white ducks of course.

  1. You had me at the name White Duck. Then the chowder and burger/fries came out. And last but not least…an actual white duck. This goes on the “places to visit if I ever get to New England list.” (I even like that sign on the wall…”where do tough ducks come from…hard boiled eggs.”)

      1. Wow, that’s a drag. I can walk (Up a steep ass hill) to all the major food groups, pizza, Chinese and burgers, all excellent. The Chinese comes from a Japanese place, but it’s made with that well-known Japanese attention to detail, so it’s at least as good as anyone else’s.
The burger joint is on its third owner and the vibe has gotten a lot more hipster-y but the burgers haven’t changed a bit. Smart management.

      2. We have local convenience stores that make pizza and Italians but they’re not very good. Other than Dunkin Donuts and Subway ( blech! ) in the next town, decent food is 20 minutes away. There is our local pub, but if I’m eating there? I’m staying to drink as well…

      1. Good & bad. Though some may bail out.

There are no good antique store around here.. all picked over long ago. I still regret not getting an arr deco birdseye maple bedroom set that was in great condition. Price waa way below value but I didn’t have the $$ at the time.
