Let’s play.

Because it’s easy… and you’re already here.

I’m not a huge tv watcher so I have a generalized answer to this…

Any and every reality show ever produced. I’ve never watched one and I never will. They promote and reward bad behavior…. and if I want to see that?

I’ll just watch C-Span.

How about you? What popular show do you dislike…

  1. Everyone, and I mean everyone, said we should watch Breaking Bad since the husband teaches chemistry. We never did. I tried the first few episodes a few years ago but couldn’t get into it. I feel like I’m the only person on the planet who doesn’t love it.

  2. Like “The Travel Architect” I could never see the appeal of Breaking Bad. There are so many shows that were super popular that I either passed on completely or just said “Meh” and changed the channel. What’s that one about being on an island that was on for a million years – never even gave it a second thought. Reality shows? Why? Who the hell are the Kardashians anyway? Tho I must admit I did like Say Yes to the Dress, as did my husband. We subscribe to BritBox and Acorn – mostly British shows (and Australian/New Zealand/Canadian) and European shows – I’ve learned to love subtitles and watching Balthazar improved my French.

      1. I must admit I love all and any Batman movies and the first Deadpool was a hoot, Deadpool 2, not so much…Black Panther was awesome and so was Wonder Woman – I like watching them on tv tho – that way I can fast forward through those overlong fight scenes…

      1. Cathy likes it and is all wound up for the next go-round. The only part of it that ever got real was when one of them got cancer. I will admit that, no matter how good your life is, cancer is going to fuck it right up.

  3. Like you, I totally avoid reality shows, which are so far from reality they turn me off. Also I tried Yellowstone but just couldn’t get into it at all. It was difficult to enjoy a show that I didn’t like or feel for any of the main characters.

  4. The list is long . . . so many shows aimed at the lowest common denominator . . . but Schitt’s Creek is near the top. In part, because Chris Elliott was on it ~ playing himself, as usual. YUCK!

We watch movies & shows on PBS ~ NOVA, Nature, Miss Scarlet & the Duke, Midsomer Murders, Father Brown, etc.

  5. I’ll never like sex and the city but I’m about ready to give Schitt’s creek a try. As much as Chris Elliott makes me cringe, Catherine O’Hara is supposed to be hilarious. And the characters evolve over the course of the show. Take that away and you get Gilligan’s Island.

  6. Shameless, the American version. I watched it because it was highly recommended but for me it was just, meh. I did watch a couple of the episodes of the British version and damn, now that was really raunchy. And yet it was still only….meh.

I was never into SATC either, or real housewives of whatever city their currently in. Reality TV in general unless it’s something scientific like Dirty Jobs or Deadliest Catch (okay not scientific but I love watching that show a while back.) I also love Finding Your Roots on PBS, I love everything PBS actually.

      1. Oh yeah, my bff has been telling me about Fleabag. I’m like nah, I’m good after hearing about how people are either invested or not interested in this show. I’m good don’t need another raunchy show to watch.

  7. The question for me is backwards. I watch some TV but not that much, and even what I watch is mitigated because I will watch what Gail loves. The last TV show I really loved was Bzrney Miller. What does that tell you about me?

      1. I am just discriminating. Usual TV fare is like Pablum to me. Fill8ng but without taste. It takes a lot to really impress me. Modern television musg doesn’t do it.

    1. Well, I was a Throner so I’ll part company with you there. It seems I liked the first True Detective but not the subsequent installments. I never got into those talent shows either. Think I watched one or two and found them annoying.

      1. I knew the talent shows were scripted but got proof when a friend was in one. She wouldn’t hive them a sob story so they edited her performance to seem like she finished to dead silence – which didn’t happen at all.

      2. Yep. Better show would have been how many times they approached her for a sad story, she refused, and yet she thought there’d be no repercussions.

Also, they treated them like crap on filming days.. no food, forcing last minute changes to their performance, etc. Someone in her seroes was HORRIBLE but the show kept moving him forward. There’s a reason you never see the actual result numbers.

      1. It seems very binge-able, and I know a lot of ppl like it. I just couldn’t get past the fact that there was no real likeable hero (and if there is, he/she gets whacked the next episode). That, and everyone’s naked. 😀

  8. I don’t know what shows are popular, any more than I know what songs are popular (I took a vacation from pop culture years ago, and as far as I can tell, I haven’t missed much — but then, I’m sure pop culture doesn’t miss me either). And now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got less trivial pursuits to get back to, like playing with my yo-yo.

  9. “The Bachelor” and “Dancing With the Stars.” Both shows get a lot of love, but I’ve never had the slightest bit of interest. Same with “Game of Thrones,” which is odd because I’ve never met a dragon I didn’t like.
