.
First we did the driveway. Then the back deck, followed by the living room beam and ceiling repair… next up?
Bedroom windows and exterior door.
We replaced 16 windows in the house about 7 years ago but somehow never got around to the master bedroom and they’re long overdue.
.

.
Our bedroom has 5 old (1994) wooden Anderson windows and to be honest, the seals were broken on some when we moved here in 2002.
Things have only gotten worse since then.
.

.
Every time you take a shower? A wet spot of condensation appears on the picture window.
.

.
And that’s not a foggy day outside, just old cloudy glass.
.

.
With rotting wood.
Did I mention the old lady who lived here before us nailed all the windows shut?
.

.
Can’t say I’ll miss those holes.
Yes, it’s well past time to replace them all so I emptied the room as best I could….
.

.
And will wait for work to start on Monday.
P.S. When this is done? Bye bye horrible dusty rose carpet and the first set of furniture we bought as a married couple.
.
Good luck with this project. I will be following closely. I have replaced our windows, but it’s possible there may come a time when that has to be done again.

This house is cursed when it comes to projects, even if someone other than my husband is doing them. Something will go wrong… I know it.

Let’s hope you’re wrong.

His Lordship’s litter box will have to be temporarily relocated. I do not imagine this will pass without incident.

Well, a new project to annoy his Lordship, lol. I’m thinking he’s just getting back to normal from the living room beam incident. So when I see windows without blinds or full curtains my privacy OCD kicks in. But then I remember you live in a place where your nearest neighbor is far from your property. I could not have any window of mine without blinds or shutters because my neighbors are way to close to see inside my home at night when the lights are on. And I don’t want them seeing me argue with Charlie when he’s being temperamental, lol.
I can’t wait to see how the master suite turns out!

These windows have blinds under the valances, but to be honest I only pull them during hot days to block out the sun. They’re up at night. If the deer and the raccoons want to peek in, I’m okay with it.

I’d love to remodel our bedroom but all the $$ is going to travel, so I will live vicariously through you.
Why did the old lady nail the windows shut. Was she averse to fresh air?

Her husband died, her children were grown and gone… she was scared living alone.

That’s a shame.

It is. She ran a little old lady hair salon out of our breakfast nook for years. The stories these walls could tell…

Think of how much more efficient your home will be once the windows are upgraded! Hopefully this project will go smooth than the last ones. 😳

I’d like to think so, but our track record isn’t good.

I love the natural light you get in your home. ❤️

We have lots of windows and open outdoor spaces. I take advantage of it by not having heavy drapery.

I was shocked to learn how expensive new windows are. So glad ours are just a couple of years old and in great shape!

You’re blessed. Every window in our house was old when we moved in.
