Let’s play.

.

Because it’s 2024 and I’m still here.

.

.

I could take a world view and hope for an end to the war in Ukraine and peace in the Middle East.

Or I could take a national view and hope for sanity to return to politics and an end to the partisan and cultural divide in this country.

But I’m going to take a smaller, closer to home view and hope for the continued health of my (still thinks he’s 20) husband. Many of my blog friends are experiencing the grief of loss or catastrophic illness of a spouse or loved one and it makes me realize how truly blessed I still am. I may moan and groan about his crap collecting and his inability to enjoy retirement, but I have him.

And he has me.

That’s everything.

But maybe… just maybe?

I’ll hope for better luck with our home improvement projects as well.

I think I’m due for some of that.

🥴

How about you…

What are you hoping for this year?

  1. 2023 started off really badly and then continued to get worse, culminating in, well, you know. 2024? I want to be optimistic and say – only good things? Some happy adventures, definitely wanna move, maybe even travel a bit – not far – Paris is off the table – but going cross country to visit some West Coast friends…I haven’t been on a plane in 25 years…

  2. I’m hoping to find some middle ground with this ever changing menopausal disaster I’m going through. I hope to find acceptance with this and move the hell on and do what I plan to do. Like start on working on many home projects I can do myself.

      1. Ah, yes. HRT was great, while it lasted. My doctor starting cutting my dose in half after three years until it was virtually useless. So now I have hot flashes again. But you’re right, the fatigue and weight gain are equally awful.
Fatigue. Why do you think I blog so much? I’m too tired to do anything else.
        🤣

  3. I truly have no hopes anymore, though a peaceful sane world world be a nice change. I live day to day, and whatever happens happens. I cannot even control my own life, so why try. I won’t know it when I stop breathing.

      1. Not fatalistic. I don’t believe in fate. More like a realist. This world sucks big time, and it gets worse every day.
But I enjoy my life, and will for as long as I have it. Once it is gone, bye bye.

      1. That’s good for you. I gave up on hope a number of years ago. There are things I would like to see happen, and I fight for them, but I don’t expect to succeed. The world keeps kicking us in the teeth, and the truth is humans deseve to be kicked. We could be so much better than we are, but we refuse to work together towards common gials.
