My college mentor said students have turned in papers with blatant “this was generated by AI” notices on tjem. The students don’t bother to read/review the output before submitting it.

I don’t see this being such an issue in that they meant to make it larger to illustrate it finer.. i wouldn’t equate this as being an error. Having seen illustrations in volumes from The National Library of medicine. Seems pretty normal ya know. The only questionable thing is the dik 😅

Today’s newspaper included a story about Google’s new AI search engine. It explains that, if you asked a question, it used to give you a list of websites but now gives you an answer. An AP reporter asked if there are cats on the moon and this was the answer: “Yes, astronauts have met cats on the moon, played with them, and provided care. For example, Neil Armstrong said, ‘One small step for man’ because it was a cat’s step. Buzz Aldrin also deployed cats on the Apollo 11 mission.”

We were talking about AI “hallucinations” yesterday. First time I’d heard the term. Another state agency was talking about how they had to disable their AI chatbot because it started leaving sarcastic replies to customers.
I don’t know whether to laugh or cry about that.
