Before and afters, overpriced lamps and a cat who sits…

.

The new composite decking, the new soffit ceiling panels, the new poles, the new pvc wrap and new moulding are all in place.

.

.

And though we’re only halfway done with this project, it looks better already.

.

.

The old siding has been stripped off and the windows are taped.

.

.

Next up?

The stone veneer.. which I know is going to be a total nightmare because there’s so much to cut around. Three windows, a door, a light fixture, an electrical outlet and a dryer vent.

You’ll probably hear the cursing from there.

.

.

In other news, I put a fresh coat of stain on our well house.

.

.

It amazes me how often I have to do this.

For a house covering a well, it doesn’t weather well.

And while I’m complaining…

I’ve been lamp shopping and I’m not happy.

.

.

Lamps plus what… gold dust?

Because that’s the only explanation for charging that much.

.

.

Lord Dudley Mountcatten took a detour on his walk today.

.

.

Or should I call it a sit…

  1. Jesus! You have to be an heiress to buy anything these days. That’s highway robbery! And to back that up, our current houseguests (family from England), keep remarking at how expensive food is over here (even with the fabulous exchange rate British people get when they come over here).

      1. Oh, you can move here if Trump gets elected, the more non-Republ8cans the better for us. You get used to the prices, and your $ is worth so much more. And with your voices added to ours, our government will likely respond better. Here the gov’t listens to the people, not like the current state of affairs in America, where they only listen to the wealthy.

  2. Looking good!!! Yes, what IS that lamp made out of???? I have found my most treasured lamps at thrift stores and HomeSense or Winners. Sometimes I end up refreshing them with paint and replacing the shade (and I even have to redo the electrical bits on some really old ones) and voila! A brand new and unique looking lamp.

  3. The front porch is going to be amazing; looks great already.

Lamps plus is on drugs. I’ve always found the best ones at Home Goods.
Who doesn’t like to walk/sit on a nice day?

    1. I’m headed to Home Goods tomorrow.. but it’s times like these I curse the lack of brick and mortar stores. So many have closed, browsing isn’t what it used to be.
