I cannot accurately relate the extent to which I despise painting our kitchen cabinets. But paint them I did,…
.

.
Though I think we both ended up covered in equal amounts of white.
I’m good, but I’m not neat.
After a day of that, I needed a quick and easy dinner.

.
Bubba Gump to the rescue, though I did use half the amount of butter.
Easy as well as tasty.

No room for birds.
Grey squirrels, unlike red… are welcome here.

Roopers is a local beverage distributor. Their delivery trucks are… interesting.

What did you serve the shrimp with?

Garlic butter rice and steamed asparagus.

Good job on the cabinets. I have to do that this year, but I am waiting until we have a few days where we can open the windows.

I’m always happy after I do it, but I tend to procrastinate the chore…

Wow, your cabinets turned out great, and dinner sounds like it did as well 👍.

Sasquatch in a Buffalo plaid shirt: Gotta love a cryptid with fashion sense. The shrimp dish is what I call a winger, which is the best kind of recipe. I hate overly complicated recipes that call for things like 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest (From two lemons) or 1/2 teaspoon flaky kosher salt, gently stirred into four quarts rapidly boiling water. That’s a favorite. If memory serves, that instruction came from Real Simple🤔.
I can barely stand looking at my cabinets either these days. Hopefully I can get away with doing the doors and drawer fronts.

Ours are old and simple. But now they’re white and shiny so I’m happier…

Happy is good. Getcha some. “Getcha”, by the way, passes muster with my spell check. Might fly in a scrabble game. I know you need all the help you can get, so I’m happy to pitch in.😏👌

I betcha.
Which is what my spellcheck changes getcha to.

The cabinets look wonderful, but I take your point about the horror of doing it. The shrimp recipe looks delicious.

It was too spicy for my spouse, but I loved it.

That makes you the anti-England, who loves their reds but wants to exterminate the greys. And I guess we’ve reached the point in human civilization where someone can’t even type up a recipe without adding a bunch of silly emojis…

English reds might be different. And if ours didn’t insist on chewing holes in our house, barn, garage and shed I might not hate them.

Why are grey skwerls okay vs red? (Genuine Q)

We’ve been battling psychotic reds for years. They chewed a hole in our house and made a nest so we evicted them and closed it up. Then they chewed a hole in our barn and made a nest which we had to repair. Then our shed, and finally our garage. They even burrowed up into our eaves and got in our attic. They’re quite destructive.
Grey squirrels don’t do that. They just happily eat at the feeders.

I posted a lot about one particular terror a few years back… maybe they’ll show up at the end of the post.

I don’t want to…
But they force me.

Your cabinets look amazing! What kind of paint did you use?

Thanks.
It was Behr Marquee… one coat, white, semi gloss, interior enamel. Though to be honest it took two coats. And that was over existing white.

Did you sand or anything?

A few rough spots and some chips, but in truth… no.

Your kitchen looks great. Was that the first time you’ve painted your cabinets and, if not, how long between paint jobs?

Not by a long shot.
They were white when we moved in 20 years ago and I’ve painted them multiple times. Probably every 4 years….

Good to know.
Note to self: never paint your cupboards.

If they’re large, can they technically be called shrimp?

I would have thought Sasquatch was more of a moonshine drinker than beer.
You painted your cabinets? You are so brave!! They look great. I too am a messy painter, and I’d never try the cabinets myself, hence you being brave.

Well, it was white over white… no bravery required.
