.
The stone veneer installation is coming along nicely…
.

.
Rising up the wall and around the windows.
.

.
But at this point I need to take a moment and complain about the namby pamby fortitude of this product.
.

.
It cracks easily.
.

.
It chips even easier.
.

.
For something that weighs a ton and costs a fortune?
.

.
I expected better resiliency.
Cutting the “easy to install” stone is a nightmare all its own and everything is covered in dust.
.

.
So much so it has to be brushed off every piece before and after installation.
.

.
Thankfully you can’t see the cracks and chips unless you’re right on top of them.
.

.
And I think it’s going to make a huge difference to our home’s curbside appeal when (if!) it’s completed.
😊
.
Great progress but, yeah, I’d hee annoyed!!
Adding some water whole cutying should reduce the dust.

This is not a water friendly saw….

Looking good. But yes, as you say you would expect better quality than that. All the best with finishing it and I hope you don’t find further problems down the line.

This project you have going is one I wouldn’t expect to go smoothly with what work goes into this.

Nothing drives me crazier than having something brand new and then it gets marred. You’d think having pets would at least get me used to that, but it doesn’t.

I found the chipped pieces and glued them back on, but the crack really ticks me off.

Ugh…..yeah that’s a huge issue for me as well. If they advertise easy to install, one would expect it to be. And the cracking and chipping? 🤬

It’s annoying, but still looks great overall.

Maddening to have stone break so easily, even if folks can’t tell. Is the curb appeal more for you or for future selling/ downsizing?

Both.
For us now because we’re always feathering our nest… and it can’t hurt down the road.
It also keeps my (not loving retirement) husband busy.

It looks really good. Cutting that stuff is a nightmare, but he’s making good progress. The crack would bother me, too.

Thanks. I’m hoping it will be worth all the hassle…

Perfectionist that I am, those chips and cracks would drive me bonkers.

I glued the chips back on so you’d never know, but that crack. Yeah. It bothers me as well…

it’s looking really nice, river! and personally, i’d likely never even notice the chips and cracks. i have stone 1/2 way up the the front of the house, and on the side of the garage, and i’ve never noticed any chips or cracks (the stone was already in place when we moved in). now i’m curious and will have to walk outside to have a look …

Don’t do it! Once you spot the flaws, it’s all you see….
