The last thing is always the hardest.

.

The final piece of stone siding on our front porch was installed…

.

.

And after a mere five months, the remodel project was complete.

.

.

Well, almost.

.

.

A new light fixture needed to be hooked up… and because my husband returned the matching stone mounting block I chose, not to mention the color coordinated vinyl siding mounting block I brought home and decided to take the easy way out when it came to cutting the stone…

.

.

Things did not go well.

Have you ever tried to mount a flat light fixture to an anything but flat surface of ledge stone?

.

.

I don’t recommend it.

🥴

  1. The door is gorgeous. In answer to your question about attaching a flat light fixture to an anything other than a flat surface… yes. We have done so on brick with the same awkward result as what happened to you. Eventually we found light fixtures with larger backs that allowed the light to hang straight, but it was trial and error.

    1. We originally bought the square stone mounting block that goes with the siding but the husband said it was too thick. Then I bought a color coordinated vinyl siding mounting block like we used on the deck and kitchen porch but the husband said he didn’t want to use a block at all. So when he got to that area he just drilled a circular hole through the stone and pulled the wires out thinking he could tinker enough to flush mount the fixture.
      Clearly that isn’t working.
And the moth is still on that one section of stone, leaning up against the exterior house wall. I’m tempted to move him in the shed for the winter but since he chose that spot to cocoon, the husband says we should it leave it.

      1. Never.
And the only time I remember him taking one of my suggestions was recently when he was struggling with those pvc balustrades. He said the tape was a good idea. I almost fainted…

    1. Since I am married to what is her husband brother by another mother (and dad) Mine does not hear me speak, unless he wants to, even if I know what I am talking about. Drives me mad. Must be something with men of a certain age and long held beliefs. Even after it cost my husband $1,500 for not listening to me… LOL
