Miscellaneous nonsense.

Cats.

They’re bizarre little creatures.

Ours sat like this for half an hour.

Did he see a bug… or was he pondering existentialism?

Tough call.

Driving with my husband means stopping frequently.

Especially when he sees old things for sale. That 1939 beauty was $32,000 and I had to drag him away kicking and screaming.

This was also proudly displayed, though not for sale.

I had to laugh at Downstream’s name and advertising. Two thumbs up from poo that looks like seals.

We’re having a record breaking hummingbird season and I’m filling feeders like crazy.

It’s rare to see two birds drinking at the same time without fighting here but this year we’ve had five.

Question – does this look like a $175 bouquet to you?

.

.

Because that’s what I spent and this was what was delivered.

Maybe I’m spoiled by our outstanding local florist but when I called a North Carolina business and ordered an extra special, stuffed full of blooms bouquet this wasn’t what I had in mind. The arrangement looks almost haphazard.

  1. They’re pretty but it looks at least $125 dollars short of a $175 bouquet. Highway robbery! Ahead of our 25th anniversary I used a nationwide flower delivery service to send 25 roses to the Husband’s school and it was a whole thing. The tracking said they’d been delivered, but they hadn’t and nobody at the company could say where they were. They resent the roses (I said don’t bother because they’ll come after the big day so what’s the point, but they did anyway). With some struggle I got my money refunded. Furious that my big surprise was ruined, I bought him a bouquet of roses at the grocery store so I could give them on the actual anniversary. The next day the AWOL flowers arrived at his school, and a few days later the resent flowers arrived. He also bought me flowers. In all, I think we ended up with 74 roses in our house, and d’ya know what? Of all of them, the grocery store flowers lasted the longest!! My lesson? Regardless of cost, use a local florist (or even the grocery store).

    1. Ugh. How frustrating.
The problem with mine was I used a local florist… in Notth Carolina. I used them when we lived down south and always had good results. Of course that was 24 years ago… clearly things have changed. Unfortunately our favorite florist up the road wouldn’t deliver to a house 986 miles away.

      1. I was going to say, roses and Oriental lilies are expensive, but they shorted you on the arrangement. I don’t order flowers online anymore because they routinely cheat you on the variety of flowers used and the arrangements. Years ago I ordered for my mother what was supposed to be a bouquet of yellow roses and lavender gladiolus. My mom sent me a photo of what she received: yellow carnations with one purple glad stuck in the middle. I was furious and told FTC I wanted my money back. Instead they sent Mom another bouquet with yellow roses and two purple gladiolus. She was confused—she was in the early stages of dementia but she knew Mother’s Day was over. But I was done with Teleflora and the other flower services. I buy local when I can.

  2. They appreciated the thought but my thought is that I should gone into flower business. Lots safer than some other jobs and pretty, also. Your birdfeeder is a favorite place. Cats have deeper thoughts, I have notices, than the pugs.

  3. His Lordship is definitely looking at something, or maybe he’s plotting an escape, lol. Wow, that bouquet does not look like its $175. I have a question, what do you put in your hummingbird feeder? Lately I’ve had many in my back yard and I’m thinking of getting one. I’ve seen at least four the last three days, two of them together all the time.

  4. Roses are expensive, but the floral arrangement could definitely be better. I mean, I’ve made more attractive arrangements and I am not remotely crafty. And the fact that you actually called a florist and talked to them makes it more of a letdown.

  5. Oh no. I would call that florist and complain—they ripped you off!

I love seeing all the hummers; they’re so fun to watch!

I agree, those cars are something to behold. Of course, you don’t need them, but you know, looking is fun.
