I’ve been to Santa Fe several times, but just last night I was just pondering (and looking up flights and prices) a quick summer getaway there. Damn. Better start saving now, just in case it pans out.
And it’s not just stupid that’s on the rise. So is basic rudeness, or more accurately, I should say that basic customer service/courtesy is on the decline. People just can’t bring themselves to say “I’m sorry.” I’ve had so many instances lately where I’ve been kept waiting a long time, not had a call returned from a business, etc., and not been given a basic “sorry.” It’s amazing how far that little word can go to ease my irritation at whatever thing happened. Doesn’t seem to be generational either. I’ve had this withheld from people of all ages. Is it pride?

Common decency and respect is definitely on the decline. I was raised to be polite…I hold doors open, say please and thank you as well as I’m sorry. A little goes a long way. Shame we’re losing that. 😥

Yes, I know what it is! We just got back from almost a month in Santa Barbara. I found a VRBO that is affordable and this was our eighth time renting it. We used to go skiing in Aspen. Loved it. Finally, I grew up near Seattle and went to the UW. I guess I have expensive tastes. Although Seattle wasn’t expensive when I was in school.
