.
After drinking our fill of beer at the off the beaten path brewery it was time for food, so we took the scenic route back through Westport Island.

.
It’s a lovely place… and I even spotted a Kingfisher on a power line.
.

.

.
Heading inland you can tell fall is right around the corner.
.

.
The blueberry barrens are starting to turn red.
.

.
Our destination was the old Jameson Tavern in Freeport which is now the Kings Head pub.
.

.
We settled at the bar where I had a fabulous and quite potent blood orange margarita.
.

.
The menu was small and I knew the husband would grumble, but I started with a plate of decent garlic Parmesan wings.
.

.
So far so good for me, but my spouse is picky when it comes to restaurants. He said his shrimp cocktail was tough and chewy…and when he asked for some vinaigrette for the accompanying greens, the waitress brought a teeny tiny finger full and that was all it took.
He was done.
We went home, where I made hot turkey sandwiches.
.
Ah, well… you win some, you lose some. It least your bill was probably small. 🙂

Small-er, yes.

The wings look good. The scenery is beautiful. Of all the things to skimp on, vinaigrette? I don’t see the point.

Neither did my husband.

Mmmm… hot turkey sammiches!!
All my local breweries are now carrying at least one booze slushie and I’m loving it!! The “pineapple serano pepper” one was a bit much for my spice-adverse tastebuds, and the piña colada slushie on Fri was meh… but a good alcoholic mango slushie sure makes me happy!!

It’s hits or miss I think with those out of the way places. Your margarita looked fab, and so did the wings. Too bad the hubs experience wasn’t the same but that’s how you know which places you to go back to. Haven’t had a hot turkey sandwich since Thanksgiving, lol.

My guy loves hot sandwiches with gravy. Turkey, roast chicken, roast beef. Good, filling comfort food.

SO pretty, though. I look forward to seeing more fall colors on your adventures!

We’ve had such an awful drought this year, fall colors are going to be iffy.

I’ve been watching and hoping for more rain. And of course this is the year I’m coming to New England and the Eastern Provinces in October.

I have a feeling the color will be early and short this year. Shame, because it’s my favorite time of year.

Better that than a finicky drive and a scenic husband, right?
Right??

I’m sorry about the meal, but the photos are stunning.

You’re first clue to a so-so meal should have been the emptiness.

We got there early, when they first opened. It filled up shortly after the photo…

We had excellent garlic parmesan wings from Kwik Trip the other day. Yes, they’re a gas station. No, I’m not kidding.

I have a hard line no on gas station food. No good ever follows that.. at least for me.
