.
Another beautiful fall day, another scenic drive.
.

.
To a festival called Apples and Artisans.
.

.
Crafters, pumpkins, apples…
.

.
And gorgeous foliage.
.

.
Had to laugh at this license plate.
.

.
No dogs allowed.
.

.
The trees really put on a show last month.
.

.

.
I would be a tad worried that was a red leafy tentacle from the forest kraken attempting to pull that truck off of the road…

This looks like a wonderful time for both apples and artisans. The leaves are beautiful. Time to go turkey shopping.

I have to start early to find one small enough to suit my purposes.

“Purposes”??? That sounds…sketchy. 😋

Not so much. I’m after a decent meal, a couple sandwiches and a nice pot of soup. I will admit that my undefined purposes could be seen as nefarious. 😈

Beautiful…and people wonder why we live someplace where it gets cold.
I just bought some Stayman Winesaps from my favorite orchard. That and Macoun are two of my favorite varieties. He also makes cider and doesn’t pasteurize it, so I currently have some fermenting out on the table.

Fresh cider simply can not be beaten.
Enjoy!

So pretty! I got myself an entire jug of unfiltered apple cider to drink while I was in New England last month. Nothing like it in LA.

Fresh cider is the best!

Apple Valley has it… a mere 2 hr drive w/o traffic. (Yes, I also think that’s too far)

LOL, sometimes we can get cider from Ha’s Apple Farm (which I think is in Apple Valley) at the local Farmer’s Market. But Andy is appalled at the cost and it is filtered. Also lacks the complexity of the cider I had in the east.

We used to go to Apple Valley when I was a kid. I like watching the cider pressing and I miss picking crab apples. But, yeah… definitely not much complexity to tastes, and I don’t know of any cider worth a 4hr round trip!

Unless you meant LA the state, and not the city.

T’is the season! Looks like you’re getting some great leaf-peeping – what kind of apples is that area famous for?

Common varieties are Honeycrisp, Cortland and Macintosh but most orchards have a wide variety of historic heirloom varieties. The lists are impressive.

Your foliage may have gotten off to a slow start, but it’s really made up for it now!

It’s weird but we had a good bit of rain in October.
