.
I don’t know why I get such a kick out of seeing these little fellows in the garden….
.
.
But I always do.
.
.
Hummingbird moths!
.
.
They don’t look anything like a hummingbird, or a moth for that matter.
.
.
But they’re cute as the proverbial bug in a rug.
Without the rug, of course.
Wow! I don’t think I’ve ever seen one.

What’s not to love?

Cute? They look like a reject from a Godzilla movie. I guess they cross pollinate, so they have a purpose, whatever they are.

They escaped my bio-laboratory. What they are doing in Maine, I do not know.

I’ve never heard of them before. From what it looked like in the thumbnail in my Reader, I thought you were going to praise a wasp, in which case, I’d have presumed my favorite red squirrel had finally driven you mad.

Not quite yet. But not for lack of trying on her part…

Hey, River Girl! Check out my blog on hummingbird moths that I posted last week. There are many varieties, but the one in my photo if you enlarge it, really does look like a hummingbird!
