Eerie skies…

.

While I will never miss the ungodly heat of the south, I do miss their ripping thunderstorms. The few rumblers we have in Maine rarely come close in intensity but recently we had a beauty.

.

.

And yes, I’m that weirdo neighbor who sits on their porch and waits for it to roll in.

.

.

With camera in hand.

.

.

The real action didn’t start until after dark…

.

.

But you could feel it in the air.

.

.

Boomers were coming…

  1. Weirdos unite! I’m in! I love it. Such beautiful captures! I’m sitting outside staring at the skies having just looked at storm pics from last week~hearing another one is coming on Wednesday (I’m in SW MO).

  2. I knew there was a reason we are blog buddies! I love thunderstorms and love to be outside or under the porch when they come rolling in. We haven’t gotten any rain let alone ripping storms in months. The heat is scorching plant life around here. Even my neighbors beautiful green and lush lawn is now turning yellow and crunchy. My pear tree is trying to survive and it’s disheartening to watch this happen and now being able to do anything about it 🥺

    1. It’s bizarre because our last two summers were dry as a bone. Drought, brown lawns, dry wells… I feared for all those new trees we planted. This year? Rain almost every day. It’s crazy. Now I’m worried about them rotting in standing water. It’s pouring as I wrote this. Wish we could send you some….

  3. We get some wonderful ones in Australia. There’s a visceral reaction I sense as they come, which shows how we humans are indivisible from nature’s works. This is proven by people having asthma attacks when they occur. As for the root rotting, when we moved into this house I noticed there was a brass/copper pipe sticking out of the ground near the lemon tree. The soil is clay and I believe that it was a way for the former owner to allow evaporation at the roots when waterlogging occurred. Might be useful?
