.
The day finally arrived, as did the supposed window expert.
.

.
We’d had rain, sleet and snow in the morning but by the time he showed up at 2:30 it was just wet and cold.
After a thorough exterior examination with our contractor, the inspection moved inside.
.

.
Measurements were taken, levels were checked…
.

.
Pieces and parts were removed and given a complete going over.
The result?
A determination that the windows themselves weren’t square and one was 3/16ths off plumb. Which is what we told them a month ago.
.

.
Pictures were taken for the report and we were left with two options.
1. Completely new sashes could be ordered for four out of the five windows. This would take at least 7-8 weeks with no guarantee they would be any better than these.
2. A complete refund could be requested and 5 new windows ordered from a different company… which will also take 7-8 weeks.
I can’t stress how much of an inconvenience this has been and will continue to be. Either option will force our contractor to be installing windows in January.
In Maine.
Grrr… not to mention brrr.
We’ve decided to go with door #2 and will be heading over to the store later today to argue for a full refund and begin the entire window selection process again.
Needless to say I’m not looking forward to it.
😡
.
When we had to replace windows we chose a manufacturer that also measured and installed their own windows. Don’t know if that option is available to you or not. It does reduce the possibility of fit issues.

We did that with the rest of the house about 7 years ago, but we wanted something a little better this time. Joke’s on us.

When those windows finally arrive, is there an option to sleep in another room? In my family house that would be a no (no other room available) but maybe you have a second room?
It’s been a blog-worthy event nonetheless… Good luck with the next chapter.

Ugh. You know how I feel about this. I’m glad they’re not going to fight you, but… Still, I’m sorry you’re having to go through this! Hope you definitely use your voice and leave a review on their website or yelp or wherever about what you experienced with this company. Hope wherever you get your new windows from is much, much better!

Mmmm. Marvin used to be a better window than Anderson. Wonder what happened …

The we were taking out are Anderson and they were failing after 9 years…

Just burn the store down. At least you would get some satisfaction out of watching it burn. (But leave evidence to show a dusgruntled window salesman torched it when he was told to return his commission!)

A little extreme, but I won’t rule it out…

Did you slash his tires?

I did not. We were helping the contractor put away his tools and he snuck out before I could grab my knife.

Seriously!?! WHAT THE LITERAL HELL!?! Stupid window company, ugh, I’m frustrated for you. This should have been fixed already 😡.

I can’t decide whether it’s worse to have your A/C fail in the middle of a 100-degree heatwave, or to have new windows installed in the dead of winter. Both pretty much suck.

I hate heat so I’m going with failed a/c. I can always throw on another blanket.
