.
Work started on the bedroom door replacement, and you know it didn’t go well.
.

.
After removing the existing door and pulling back the carpet, serious water damage was discovered.
.

.
Which pleased neither me nor my contractor.
.

.
More work. More time.
.

.
More money.
.

.
We communicated through this hole to the basement. That was fun.
Not.
.

.
Rotten floor cut out, awaiting new wood.
Good thing we planned on replacing the carpet.
🥴

Cut your losses – burn it down!

I’ve fantasized about “cleaning house via match” many many times!!

Sorry. That’s one of the worst way a project can go wrong, and you know you have to fix it.

I figured there would be a little leakage, but not this much.

I call that the domino effect because when you have a house project, it is never just a single project.

Ugh. Water damage is lousy. It looks awful, costs a fortune to repair, and just seems plain wrong when you maintain your house as well as you do.

We’ve had water issues on that end of the house for years. Every time
we think we’ve fixed it, it finds another way in.

Darn….well you know it was boing to surface sooner or later. But he caught it, and because you have a beautiful home it’s worth it.

I’m just glad it was in a small area and didn’t spread.

Looks like an “open door” to more of the same….
Unless you can find out (or in) what’s to blame.
You could just cross your fingers and hope for the best,….
But sooner or later, Mother Nature will put that to the test.

Oh good lawrd!!
Last night I was mentally composing my post about shit starting to happen just a week after my back pay arrived.
It’s always something and it just never ends!
I hope this repair goes better than expected!!

If the windows and door are ever finished… new carpet is next.

I dunno…the basement hole seems about the right size to transport a can of beer or bottle of wine to somebody below. Could save a trip to the fridge or barn!

Yes, but it’s also perfectly cat sized and I wouldn’t want His Lordship to tumble down.
