.
Remember how thrilled I was that my husband found a living room set he liked?
Well, I went back to the store to pick out the fabric before ordering, and sadly …. I wasn’t thrilled for long.
Oh, they had plenty of decent solids, but when it came time to choose a pattern for the coordinating pillows, chair and ottoman I was seriously underwhelmed.
.

.
They were ugly.
.

.
They were colorless.
.

.
And I didn’t want a single one of them in our house.
.

.
WTH?
.

.
These were the only two out of what seemed like hundreds that even came close…
.

.
But neither of them gave me the warm fuzzy I need.
Matter of fact… the only real color in the entire store was this pillow of what looked like grass.
.

.
Lazy Boy doesn’t allow fabric substitutions so I can’t buy material elsewhere and bypass their awful selection.
This is not good news.
We finally found the furniture… but we hate the fabrics.
Damn it. The search continues….
😩
.
Lord Dudley might like the grass – that’s a weird pillow. Good luck.

Thanks. I think I’m going to need it…

Oh man 🙄 it was too hood to be true. Although I like that last one, it is a shame everything is so muted. Although our furniture is covered with sheets for comfort. We don’t often ost to really care.

I honestly never thought picking fabric would be an issue. But damn…

What else would you expect from a company named La Z Boy? Looks like their design intern found a few stock patterns online, ran them through a color printer on low ink, and punched out early for the weekend…

You make a valid point…

I’m SO happy my wife takes control of these situations. So much choice but so little to choose from. I’d be hopeless! 😉😂

Get the size of the pillows and buy the covers on Amazon, that’s what I did. The Ashley sofas came with the same blue that the sofas were and they seemed bland. So, I bought some different ones on Amazon, they have tons of spectacular colors.

I’m not worried about the pillows, but we want the chair and ottoman to coordinate…

I see, yeah those colors a quite bland, what a bummer.

I don’t know how far you are from Portland ME but there is an Ethan Allen store there – they have the roll-arm sofas your hubby prefers and the fabric selection – oh-la-la!

Thanks for checking, but this is a pillow back. We need a hard back…

It’s on my list, though their prices may be a bit more than we’d like to pay. Two sofas, a chair and ottoman from them can be $15,000.

Have you considered, if your present sofa is still in good shape structurally, having it rebuilt and reupholstered? It probably wouldn’t cost more than new, high-end pieces and you can literally choose any color or pattern you can think of. Could be worth investigating.

I bought a love seat and recliner from Lazy Boy a few centuries back. They forever lost a customer. They looked comfortable, but in an hour my butt grew numb. We gave the set to a recently married family member.

Good to know. Guess we dodged a numbed butt bullet…

They probably sell mostly to retirement homes and need to keep the fabrics easily maintainable – colored fabrics tend to fade. Good luck!

Earlier today I was thinking I should yell you that fabric spraypaint is FANTASTIC. I changed an old/dirty cream sofa to bright red. The color turned out fantastic & even, and didn’t fade or bleed!

It was SO much fun!! That was back 8n my apt so at least 25 yrs ago. I left the sofa behind cause it was actually a sofa bed and too damn heavy to move. The maint guys were happy to have it for their office.

Get something basic, then buy some pillow covers that suit your taste.

Of the options, I like Spice or Smoke/Raven.

Those are not colors, if we shall call them that, worthy of being in your home. Oh my, not a good selection at all. What a bummer.

There was an entire wall of that.
Ugh…

I actually quite like that pillow. 🙂
I have an idea for you. Buy the plain, boring, light colored furniture and then host a big party and only serve red wine. Not only will your couch and chairs have splashes of color after that, they’ll be unique. No one else in the world will have furniture like yours!

A Pollack decorating party?
The idea has merit, but where do I find green wine…
