.
After cleaning and bleaching the black mold off the wallboard, our contractor wanted to make sure there wasn’t a larger problem lurking behind the wall and hauled out his spy camera.
.

.
It’s a wonderfully nonevasive way to take a peek.
.

.
And in a very unexpected turn of good luck in our usually cursed house…
.

.
Everything looked fine.
No water damage, no mold. Yay!
Before the contractor started on something else, I had him remove an old useless thermostat left over from electric baseboard heat that was used in the ‘80’s.
Under that thermostat?
.

.
Some really beautiful vintage wallpaper.
.

.
Not!
But it does have all those wonderful 1970’s colors… olive green, gold and orange.
🤣
.

.
A few more pieces of wood ripped out …
And then the reason our contractor loves charging us by the hour becomes clear.
.

.
My husband, talking.
And talking. And talking. And talking.
Ka-Ching!
💰
.

.
His Lordship?
Sleeping in the sun with a catnip mouse.
I wish my husband would do that, it would be so much cheaper.
.
Yes. I am laughing at those last few lines. Do you think Lordship will take on the training of your husband to have a sleep in the sun.

Holy crap!! That’s the same wallpaper my mom had in our kitchen!!! It’s a good thing they redid the kitchen in the early 90’s and painted over that hideous thing, lol. Well it’s a good thing that your contractor found nothing bad behind the walls, that’s unusually positive, lol.

It was. I half expected the entire wall to be covered in black mold. Finally, something went my way!

Here’s to sleeping in the sun. 😎 That wallpaper looks familiar…and is soooo definitely from a long time ago.

A bag of money behind the wall would have been better, but sure, no mold is good, too.

I’m not pushing my luck… and am just happy a previous owner wasn’t decomposing back there.

Yep, that wallpaper is a flashback. Not pretty.

Not at all. Though I remember my mother’s olive green kitchen in the 70’s… it wasn’t pretty either.

“If mother nature intended us to talk more than listen, she would have given us two mouths and one ear.” –Evan Esar
I would think the above quote applies especially to politicians, which would put your hubby in very bad company. So you can be thankful that he has no such inclinations (I assume).

Thankfully no, he doesn’t want to run for office. But he’ll talk your ear off when it comes to politics.

The living room curtains I grew up with would go well with that wallpaper. I think I only have black & white photos, which don’t do it justice.

Technicolor is required for the full atrocious effect.

I like Vintage but not that wallpaper. Lol

I always hope to find a hidden box of money during the ripping-up phase of construction, but old wallpaper is a good second place.
That’s a lie. It’s not.

It’s not.
And mores the pity…

From a distance, amid the plain colour of wall the wallpaper looks nice. Not so much up close. But it is nice for future historians…

Well, future historians will have to lump it.
It’s gone.
