A few of my top picks:
Marlon Brando in The Godfather.

Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter.
And of course…

Now you.
What actors crushed your favorite roles?

Every single actor in The Princess Bride nailed it! To even think of ever doing a remake of that classic would be inconceivable!

I know it’s hard to believe, but I’ve never seen that movie…

I haven’t either. It’s just not a film I’m interested in watching. But my boys are like, how have you never watched it? And my answer, how have you never watched Casablanca or Gone with The Wind? lol.

I didn’t avoid it on purpose, just never came across it.

Okay, I don’t understand why I’m ten or twenty posts down in the queue but here it is anyway.
I don’t want one lonely actor to get, well, lonely so I’ll give you two.
Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau are THE Odd Couple. I’m not going into why, you know or you don’t.

I haven’t watched all of Gone with the Wind (Clark Gable turned me off), but I have watched Casablanca and The Princess Bride, several times each. They both impress.
But for unforgettable performances, I will offer up James Cagney in Angels With Dirty Faces, Jan Michael Vincent in Tribes and Paul Newman in Cool Gand Luke. Each performance was priceless!

For comedy, Peter Sellers in the Pink Panther movies too.

Haven’t seen Tribes, but I’ll agree with the other two.

Don’t watch Tribes with Hubby around. It is an anti-war movie at a Marine Training Facility. Though he might like Earl Holliman as the no-nonsense Drill Instructor.

He’s fine with anti-war movies. After being in one he’s not a fan…

Since TV shows are now acceptable (!) Tony Shalhoub as Monk comes to mind. He was the ultimate “defective detective.”
