.
Work on the living room floor is done!
.

.
And once we got past a few (literal) speed bumps things went pretty smoothly.
.

.
As I said before it’s a bit darker than I’d hoped..
.

.
But we’re pleased nonetheless.
.

.
A definite upgrade from that nasty old carpet.
.

.
But like every project that’s undertaken at our cursed house, you know something had to go wrong.
.

.
Hence the ‘almost’ in my blog title.
.

.
We ran out of flooring right before the end. That’s the problem with plank flooring when you have to work a color pattern.
Oh well… it could be worse. We ordered one last box and it should be here in two weeks.
🥴
.
It looks a lot better as a whole than when you showed various parts, but I still don’t understand the “faded” board looks. They seem so disconnected to me — but I have no sense of interior design.

It’s hard to get a picture that truly represents the look. The faded boards are actually a blueish grey… but yes, the pattern is meant to be random.

I see pattern in the randomness of the floor, but maybe due to the difference between actuality and a reproduction (photograph), the unity escapes me. The floor is yours. My mouth is shut.

The pattern is random. So a patternless pattern…?

There is a pattern in everything, if you lok for it.

Looking good. How annoying though when you find yourself just that much short. I hope you have no issues with that last bit.

So close…I get that it is far from an exact science getting the exact amount needed. Couple of weeks…mission accomplished!

I once tiled someone’s bathroom. He wanted it random and had boxes of tiles that were factory seconds – different colors, sizes, shapes. One day he came home and thought he detected a pattern so I had to rip out a wall and do it again. On the last day I put in one small but very obvious pattern, prepared to have to take it out. He was impressed by my boldness and left it.

Every time we’ve had flooring installed they’ve come up short. You’d think those guys would be better at math.
