One last cuddle on the old chair.

.
One last before picture…
.

.
After that, our farming neighbor and his field hands carried the old furniture out the door and over to his house.
.

.
It’s funny because we gave him the living room set we had before this one as well.
.

.
It was a tight fit…
And made my husband wish our back door was just a little wider.
.

.
One large scratch on the paint later…
.

.
Empty echoing space.

I got two hand-me-down refrigerators from my sister before I finally had to buy one. Kinda went with all the hand-me-downs I grew up with.

Empty space? You? Not for long, I figure.

Time to have a dance party!

That’s a fair deal. Furniture is heavy! I’m excited to see your new pieces.

Really heavy! The new is similar to the old, though in different colors. My husband likes what he likes. Change is not his friend..

SOCK HOP!!! We had one for new year’s eve. It was ’50’s and ’60’s music, think Fats Domino and the Strawberry Alarm Clock. The invitations called it a freak out at the sock hop. It was a total gas (Like that word?). We rolled up the living room rug, a wool Aubusson style that the cats destroyed in a mere ten years, and our ancient red oak floor was none the worse for wear. We’ve all seen examples of your entertaining prowess, so I’m sure this would be legendary. Mostly I want to see a video of you and the Mister cutting a rug in your stocking feet. It will likely choke me up a bit, that stuff often does. Is that weird? Is it something you didn’t know or wouldn’t guess? I’ll check in on the other post.

Yeah, as much as I’d like to fulfill that fantasy it’s probably not going to happen. With my luck I’d slip in my stocking feet and blow out my other knee. Truth be told I’m not much of a dancer… my spouse on the other hand, was legendary in his day. All the girls waited for him to twirl them out on the floor.

Is there a rug in your future?

There is, though I haven’t decided where yet…

Any ideas regarding the rug itself? Size? Shape? Style? This comment is brought to you by the letter “S”.

The dining room set is dark so I’m leaning towards putting a light colored rectangle 5×7 under the table. Hope that clears things up…

Well, that’s the ‘out with the old’ part. When do we see the ‘in with the new’?

One doesn’t remember just how heavy furniture is until you have to move it out of your house. Can’t wait to see your new furniture right along side the new dining set.

Ugh, not a scratch in the paint. Just when everything was coming together!!

On the outside of the door. Nothing major, but still…

Did your neighbor ask you to not wait so long next time? 🙂
I do love it when our pieces get a second life; the ultimate recycling!

He didn’t. But from the sun damage on the back of one couch, he should have.

I bet you wish you were taking your neighbor’s hand-me-downs. Sure would beat the stress and frustration in picking out new stuff!

No, I lived with yard sale furniture and hand me downs for years. I’m done with that..
