I was so excited about the Pathfinder mission and the Sojourner rover a few years earlier—one of my nieces was born two weeks after it landed and the first day I held her I also watched a Martian sunset, which made me hope she’d have a bright and exciting future ahead of her. Somehow I didn’t pay as much attention to this mission, which may be just as well.
