.
Tear down of our old rotted front porch has commenced.
.

.
This is the part I’m more than happy to have my husband do.
.

.
It keeps him busy and there’s no finesse or fine tuning required.
.

.
Of course once he starts… he looks around and thinks about replacing more than just the decking.
.

.
And as with any project at our house…
.

.
Rotted wood we never knew about is discovered.
.

.
He was hoping he wouldn’t have to replace the frame underneath…
.

.
But so much of it is bad he’ll have to.
.

.
Sigh…
.
Oh my! It’s never easy but it keeps him busy and happy in his retirement.

This is my wife all over! 😀
(Especially the photo of spying other work that “must” be done.)
Since she retired in October, she’s been non-stop, painting this; sanding that; demolishing this (usually when I’m at work so she can present a ‘fait a complis’ when I come home!) and re-building that.
(Does your husband tidy up after him? My Missus don’t … that’s my job apparently. 😉 😀 😀 )

Actually, yes. He’s a pretty clean worker…

Been there with projects like this, great in the end, but anxiety-producing in the process.

Is he saving the old nails in the Cool Whip container? I was 18 before I learned that you could buy nails in the hardware store. I spent a lot of hours straightening old nails.

Not so much saving them, more like carefully recycling metal.

Sigh is right…seems like the norm with your house

Oh wow, with the hubs literally in the porch for scale, why don’t y’all just get rid of it? It’s really narrow so you can’t use it can you?

We stand out there and watch sunsets, and I hang flower baskets on the poles… that’s about it. But the house is cut out for it and the roof overhangs too far to just rip it out.
