.
The horrible old carpet was gone, the lush new carpet was laid… and then it was time for the (not so) fun part.
Putting everything that we’d moved out back in.
.

.
It’s no wonder people rarely change their flooring.
.

.
It really is like moving.
.

.
And I don’t know anyone who enjoys that.
.

.
My husband and a friend moved all the major pieces.
.

.
Slowly, carefully… and thankfully without mishap.
.

.
And once our bed was put back together..
.

.
And the doors reattached, I got busy with everything else.
.

.
Now that’s more like it.
😊

Me! Over here! I like moving!

Really?
We moved twice in 2002. I swear I’d rather die than do that again…

2002 was a good year for moving – I went from the Bahamas to temporary housing in Boston to ‘permanent ‘housing in Boston to Alexandria VA –

Three times in one year? Holy hell…

And we had 3 cats with us. Actually between September 1999 and October 2002 there were more moves than noted above. Sept. 1999 I moved to NYC from Virginia with one of the cats, my husband moved with 2 of the cats to a smaller apt in the same complex, then in January 2000 he and 2 cats moved to the Bahamas, then in April I moved from NYC to the Bahamas with the 1 cat. Within the year we moved to another house in the Bahamas and then in 2002 the above moves happened. I don’t remember the cats being terribly upset by it all. Zuzu always got to fly in the cabin because she was so small and her carrier fit under the seat, Boo and Fatman flew in cargo – thankfully they were all short flights and not in the Summer.

We moved back to Maine in a caravan of two trucks and a car with 5 cats split between vehicles. It was hell. Especially trying to sneak them all in a hotel and keep them quiet.

I’m with you, no I loathe moving. When I first moved, I was glad that my house doesn’t have carpet. But now, I’m thinking I want the bedrooms to be carpeted. It looks so much more elegant.

Well, it IS moving… just rooms instead of houses.
Congrats on knocking out another major project!

How long had that carpet been there?

We moved here in late 2002, no telling how long before that.

I was May 2002 and the light gold carpet was new, for the sale. I’m sure it was the cheapest avail, just like everything else in here. 22 years of cats and barely ever vacuuming… I hope to live to see how much full-on dirt there is under there!!

I’m a constant vacuumer so thankfully there wasn’t much here.

I litetally have not vacuumed since sometime before I took in the KitKats. That was last September!! Yes, it’s as bad as you’d imagine. Now that my back is a little better, I look forward to having my vacuum catch on fire again (frim getting clogged immediately).

If you can’t vacuum because of a bad back, maybe get one of those little robotic ones. The cats could chase it…

I have one. I hate it… was constantly getting stuck under furniture. I nearly lost my mind the time it did circles next to some debris yet always missed it. Plus the dirt container is redonk small. They’rebest on already clean surfaces with lots of open space, like yours.

Ah, okay…
That’s too bad.

Based on the past six years of my life, one might assume I like moving.
But one would be wrong.

I’m a good mover, very organized. But I hate every minute of it…

Yep. Exactly. It’s all worth it in the end, but it is just like moving. I wonder how I’m ever going to motivate myself to get our floors refinished…

Yep! It is like moving and moving gives me the heebie-jeebies! I’m glad you’re on the other side of it.

I don’t envy you doing this, but in the end it’ll be worth it.
