You either love them or hate them. There’s rarely any in between.
I happen to love them, even if I don’t always understand them.

This mural is in the old downtown area of our state capitol, Augusta. It’s undergoing a rejuvenation and this certainly brightens things up.

The Kennebec River flows through the city and the Kennebec is full of giant sturgeon, so I understand the fish.

.
The prehistoric cyborg dinosaurs?
Not so much…
🤣
.
We have some outstanding ones here in Glasgow. They fair brighten up the city in our grey dreich weather. 😃

Maybe the dinosaur lobby contributed paint. I hear they’re hoping to make a comeback.

Interesting…
I know they’re close to bringing a mammoth back, T Rex can’t be far behind.

I like murals and admire anyone who can paint on that scale. What I don’t like is when they’re defaced and seem sad.

They’re very large targets… tis sad but true.

Oh, I love murals and also admire and envy someone that has that kind of artistic talent on such a huge scale as well. Sometimes they are very fun and entertaining and then, once in a while you find a politically charged mural.

Which in these divisive times is a bit of a risk.

Back when Deb (from Australia) was still posting, she had a LOT of mural photographs. Australia seems to have a good attitude about them…

I like the fish that drifted in from the Springfield nuclear power plant, very cool. The cyborg dinosaurs may be defending us from the alien invasion.
Asheville has murals all over the place. We used to have trouble with taggers messing them up but not so much these days. We even have a few here in Weaverville now.

Murals usually require approval by local govt so, in theory, there is a explanation somewhere.
I like the 3-eyed fish.
Here in Long Beach, we have an annual mural painting weekend. It’s really fun to seek them out or stumble across on whike running errands.

For reasons unknown to me, the event is called the PowWow. Absolutely no connection to anything native american.

I like murals well enough, but I don’t go hunting for them like some do. I just happen upon them.

I think we’re all designed to create in some way. Spending time in creative pursuits whichever shape they take, whether decorating, painting, gardening, is good for our health, physically and mentally. I love murals and the art on that wall – it’s a bit off the wall. My take on the dinosaur? It’s about extinction and how technology is so destructive and contributing to it. Maybe the dreaded AI is in there too. But I have a friend who’s an abstract artist and I just don’t understand it sometimes!
