.
It’s a nice ring.
.

.
Sterling silver with aquamarine.
.

.
It seems well made and wasn’t expensive.
Problem?
It doesn’t fit.
.

.
I wanted it for a large finger on my right hand and ordered the size 10 1/2 I always wear on that finger.
Clearly this wasn’t a 10 1/2.
I contacted the seller, who turned out to be Prateek from India.
.

.
Uh, no you didn’t.
.

.
You sent me a 9 1/2 to 10.
And when I sent Prateek this picture (of the ring sizer I bought to avoid problems exactly like this) to prove it?
He never replied.
Grrr.
😡
.
Sorry. It is pretty. I wonder if a local jeweler could resize it.

Probably.
It’s just annoying…

Ooh, Prateek is taking a pretty big risk there. Etsy sellers live and die by their ratings, and clearly he’s down for a bad one. I wonder if it’s possibly a sizing difference between the US and India the way there are different shoe size numbers between the US, UK, and mainland Europe? Either way, he clearly needs to fix this. I hope he does.

I gave him ample time to make it right.
Didn’t happen, so I left a bad review.

If they did, I didn’t see it.

I recently had a problem with etsy. I bought a rubber bracelet with a God Quote. I never remove my bracelets but after a measly month and a half the ink rubbed off. So I am left with a gray bracelet. I wrote a shit review and the seller cried and wanted proof, so I took a photo. They then insisted I change my review because they offered a replacement, but they want the other back. I said etsy doesn’t allow customers to edit or remove reviews but the seller can request. So I added a star and said they would replace it, but kept the rest of the shit review in tact.

That’s probably what would happen here. And honestly, sending my ring back to India would cost more than it’s worth.

Got that right

Prateek looks totally trustworthy in that thumbnail. He looks like someone who’d be selling “Size 10 1/2” rings out of his trenchcoat on the streets of NYC…

If only I’d bought it there…

Isn’t there a complaint process with Etsy This is a link I found – to open a case – https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/5745586898199-How-to-Open-a-Case?segment=shopping)

I’m not sure it’s worth the hassle. I’ll just wear it on a different finger…

Oh that sucks. And sometimes it just isn’t worth the time it takes to fight over a return, send it back, etc. The most you can do is put a picture up and write a review on Etsy. Because there’s always time for vengeance.

Ha!
I did make time for that…

I never buy anything on Etsy. The business practices have changed so much in the last ten years that one can’t get a refund or have the seller be accountable.

I’ve bought jewelry in the past and never had an issue. Of course they were all US sellers..

Just a possibility: Are rings sized differently in India?
LikeLiked by 1 person
If so, shouldn’t they state that?

Would an American company state that when selling abroad?
I know when I ordered a pair of boots from somewhere in Europe they sent the right size — it said so right on the boot. But there was no way I could get my size 12 foot into it. They said they had no idea sizes were different in North America, and refused to take the smaller boots back. They sent what I had ordered as far as they were concerned.
I sold them to a friend at a loss. They were no good to me.

Most women’s clothing I buy online has a chart for different sizing. Shoes as well. I didn’t think ring size varied, but maybe it does.

Too late now anyway. Hope you enjoy it.

Maybe Prateek was too busy worshipping cows to size the ring properly.

Understandable, but still disappointing.

I get the feeling that Prateek has no intention of sending you the right size …

Based on comments, I confirmed that ring sizing is not universal. A size 10 in India is 15.9 mm in US it’s 19.8 mm. In France, it’s 61.75 unknown units.
Lesson for all of us!

It’s a gorgeous ring—-what a shame the jeweler didn’t make it right.
I hope you noted that on your review to save the next person the same frustration.

Why I don’t buy on Etsy. Good luck! A local jewelry store could stretch it a bit for you.

Thanks for the lesson. ‘Do not buy from Prateek in India.’.
