New Year’s celebrations?

.

If you’re like me your New Year’s Eve went something like this –

Cook dinner, eat, do dishes and clean up kitchen.

Wash face, brush teeth, change into pajamas with plans of watching a movie and ringing in the New Year with spouse and a nice bottle of wine.

Have one glass of wine, watch half the movie, fall asleep.

.

.

Oh, how times change.

We were going to meet two other couples for a New Year’s Day boozy brunch but I got a text yesterday morning saying a good friend was in the hospital with bacterial pneumonia that had spread to her bloodstream.

.

.

So off to the hospital we went. With New Year’s themed flowers.

Thankfully she’s on the mend, getting strong IV antibiotics and breathing more easily.

We spent a few hours cheering her up and then laughed at the sticker on the car next to us in the parking lot.

.

.

Hope your New Year’s Eve and Day were more fun than ours.

.

.

However you chose to celebrate.

🤣

  1. Hey, I stripped down completely naked, too. Kinda hard not to when taking a shower.

I did actually stay up until midnight – first time in years. Otherwise, ours was pretty low key, too. Hope your friend recovers fully.

  2. Oh my, I wish your friend a very speedy recovery. And I am in total agreement with how you spent your New Year’s Eve. I was in my PJ’s with Cape Cod in hand along with some nibbles (charcutier board) and binge watching the BBC series Sherlock. Since I already binge watched the American series Elementary it only seemed right I watch and compare….lol.

  3. That sticker is hilarious, as is the meme of doing stuff after 9 PM. Our NYE was much like yours, except that my husband did the cooking and my son did the dishes. #winning Hope your friend continues to improve–but how can she not, with a good buddy, laughs, and flowers?

  4. Our “prime time” hours have slowly evolved, and are now basically 6-9 PM. December 31st did not alter that. Amazing thing, when we woke up the next morning, it was already January 1st! It did not require us to stay up and be a welcoming party! Yup. We just took down the old calendar on our refrigerator, put up a new one, and voila, it was done.

  5. Oh my. Hoping your friend is in recovery mode now. I’ve heard of a lot of cases of pneumonia going around; weird.

I love being at home, no matter if it’s a holiday or not. 🙂
