I love a lot of things about living where we do, but the geographic placement of our house has to be at the top of the list. In the evening we have lovely sunsets out our front door, and in the morning?

Well…

The sunrises over the back deck aren’t too shabby either .

Note- photos were taken the beginning of last week, after our largest snow dump of the season. 4 inches, big whoop.
We’re back to green grass now, which is crazy wrong for winter in Maine.

Snow? What’s snow? (And that’s a Minnesotan asking!) Very pretty. We are lucky with our home’s placement, too – sunrises, in particular. If I had any tech skills, I could probably find a way to put a picture here, but it’s me, so…

We’ve had one measurable snowfall this winter. One! It lasted 2 days and melted. It’s cold now… 9 degrees… but no snow.

Pretty much the same here. Upsetting, to say the least. It’s turning out just like last year’s non-winter. ☹️

We haven’t had a good old fashioned snow storm of a foot or more in nearly five years…

Great pics. We get good sunrises and backlit trees at sunset. It’s like a free decorating service. It’s 19 here and they say there might a little snow by the weekend. yippee.

Cold and blustery here all week, but no flakes.
Other than the WP ones..

When I was a kid, I called that phenomenon the “Dry hump”, a phrase from a book called “Quiet Days in Clichy” by Henry Miller that I wasn’t supposed to read.

The pinks and blues of winter sunrises and sunsets are my favorites. Nice that you can get both!

What a beautiful view you have of both!

The placement of your house is so important, and I don’t think a lot of people realize that! We’re south-facing, which brings us sunshine in the winter, but shade in the summer thanks to three large trees. And with the backyard facing north, we can enjoy our deck without worrying about being directly in the sun. Win/win!

Sounds perfect. Our house is east/west, hence the gorgeous skies.

Beautiful……except for the snow.

It was fleeting, for sure.

The snow looks like water in that light.

Our house was not planned this way by the builders, they just wanted to get things done and disappear. But it just so happens we are on a weather line. It can rain or snow in front or back, but usually not on both ends. Really weird!

Looking upward? Beautiful! Looking downward? Cold wet stuff. Is this a Yin/Yang thingy?

It’s all Yin for me. I like snow…
