.
After a nice lunch and waterfront stroll it was back to the trenches..
.

.
To an even bigger though slightly nicer antique mall.
.

.
I swear my husband’s eyes lit up the moment we stepped inside.
.

.
It’s times like these I’m glad he’s a cheapskate when it comes to purchases. The man wants a bargain and there weren’t many to be had here.
.

.
That frog was about five grand.
.

.
I thought about this for the man cave.
.

.
And wouldn’t have minded having this, but it was badly cracked.
.

.
More wooden yardsticks.
For the love of God… why?
🥴
.

.
Interesting, but a hard pass.
.

.
Giant clam anyone?
.

.
Just looking at these shoes hurt my feet.
.

.
You know that was risqué for its day.
.

.
Yes, he bought the yardsticks.
Sigh.
.

.
I was really tempted to buy this vintage cocktail shaker and glasses for the man cave. It was even aviation themed which was my husband’s career field.
Coulda, shoulda.
.

.
This place went on forever and long story short we were there until it closed.
I purchased this.
.

.
A $500 Confederate bond from the Civil War. When we lived down south I used to pick up Confederate currency now and then but I didn’t have one of these. It still has four coupons attached, though I think my chances of cashing them in are slim.
😉
.

.
On the way out of New Bedford, Massachusetts?
.

.
Underpass fish.
.
Damn! I was going to offer to send you our wooden yardstick ($10, COD). Laughed out loud at that… that… thing (I don’t know what else to call a head with a finger sticking out of it being held by a she/he goat mannequin head). The Husband is coveting that aviation cocktail set, too. Thank goodness it’s 1500 miles away.

It screamed retro 50’s…
I should have bought it.

Actually, that thing could have come straight out of John Carpenter’s The Thing.

The fish mural is quite spectacular. It must seem odd to have to pay for something that was given away free – yardsticks I mean. I recall them as being a bit on the flimsy side which made them not the greatest ‘swords’ for dueling but they made a nice whack sound when you made contact. I suppose if you are the artsy-crafty type you could make something out of them. They’re kinda like giant popsicle sticks….

The ones he buys are older and a lot thicker. They made everything better back then…

That is most definitely a nicer antique mall than the last. But what is the hubs obsession with yard sticks? That cocktail set is divine, why did you pass? I bet you regret it now don’t you? That frog on the bike though….lol.

He likes the old advertising for companies from when back when. It’s a new obsession, not sure where it came from.
And though I wanted the cocktail set, our bar in the man cave is already pretty full. I have to be careful not to clutter the space…

I don’t even drink and I thought the cocktail set was cute.

It was fun.
If I didn’t already have too much stuff? I would have gotten it…

To make your husband’s obsession with antique yardsticks more interesting (to you), give it a back story. For example, he’s convinced that the universe is contracting over time and wants, no, MUST compare the delineations on yardsticks from across different time periods. Or he believes the French have been slowly altering the meter standard, and old rulers are the key to proving it. You can ‘helpfully’ suggest a trip to 36 Rue de Vaugirard in Paris and get a European vacation out of the mess.

Yardstick’s are actually kind of cool. Although, I don’t know why someone would need more than one.

Because they’re all different.
Or so he says…

Those are some really interesting finds. I did love the aviation themed cocktail set, myself. I’m giggling at the yard sticks. Those were my favorite play things as a kid and I found some in a garage drawer at the OG house. Don’t you know I bought them back to the new house!

I’m afraid I don’t understand this obsession. And my husband collects some pretty weird stuff…

I love the Guinness flag and the retro cocktail shaker/set. I’d have bought them for my non-existent bar in a heartbeat!
