Is there anything more lovely than the delicate beauty of a butterfly?

I tried to capture this Eastern Swallowtail with its wings fully open but never quite managed the perfect shot.

No matter, any encounter is time well spent.

Such delicate creatures.

And beautiful even when viewed from the side.

I’m always trying to catch the monarchs with their wings fully spread–that way I can use their proper pronouns. But also because the patterns are so pretty.

Wow! Very nice shots. Seeing butterflies always improves my mood. I’ll gawk like a slack-jawed fool in a parking lot, following the flight path of one.

Just this morning, we spotted a butterfly in the garden that we didn’t recognize. Looking at your photos, I think it might have been an Eastern Swallowtail.

To me they’re just as stunning as the monarch.

They are a favourite subject to photograph. Such ephermeral beauty indeed. All that work in constructing and building this creature for it not to last very long in nature. Excellent photography.

Aren’t they so lovely? We have tiger swallowtails in Georgia and the first time I saw one in person, you’d have thought I found Elvis! So delicate, such a work of art, a wonder for the eyes! You did a great job capturing this one.
