.
We had a yard sale.
It was a big success.
My husband parted with some of his treasure and enjoyed it. He even spoke about selling more.
I was thrilled!
I had visions of a clean basement and an empty garage.
But…
This is my husband the pack rat we’re talking about so instead of organizing his old things for another sale?
He brought home more things… because they were free on the side of the road.
.

.
No doubt left over from someone else’s yard sale.
.

.
Sigh…
😫

NOOOOOOOoooooooo

He set him up for a new project: fix the chair. Sometime. In the future. Way future. Never.

He did fix the chair, but it went straight down into the basement to die a slow death like all his other treasure….

Is that chair with a broken leg something he will fix “someday”?

He fixed it.
But now it’s in the basement with all the other forgotten booty….

I rather like the chairs in the first photo – tho they look barstool height – but then I like that color wood and that furniture style…maybe change the seat covering? Yes,I like those a lot…If I passed those on the side of the road I would be hard pressed not to pick them up – The other’s – mmm, not so much. I wonder where hubby’s seeming compulsion to acquire ‘stuff’ comes from…

Sorry. I grew up poor with 9 siblings. I have no need for other people’s junk. Try again!

Oh No! So it’s not just the Selling aspect he likes. Maybe you can talk him into having Yard Sales every few months.

He loves finding things for free or for little money, knowing they’re worth more. Selling and making some money? Not so much.

One of the Kiddos went through a stage where he would bringing home chairs left out on the sidewalk as trash.
We still have several rickety, seatless chairs…

I just don’t understand the obsession with bringing home other people’s junk. Yes, once in a while he finds something interesting, but it doesn’t make up for all the rest.

I willfully avoid garage sales.
I have fantasies of finding a fully functional Pentax LX or Hasselblad camera for a buck.
But like the lottery odds, I know it won’t happen. So better to avoid temptation and not go at all rather than end up with bulky broken items like reel-to-reel tape decks or typewriters.
I sense a kindred but less disciplined soul in your husband. Good luck. 🙂

Oh, yeah. The broken chair should fetch a pretty penny. 🤣
I have to admit, though, that this course of action is not unexpected.

Not unexpected, but still disappointing.
