It’s autumn in New England and that’s a beautiful thing. Turning leaves, apple picking, pumpkins…

.
Sadly not everyone gets to experience it.

I can’t think of one entirely vegan or vegetarian restaurant in Maine, but clearly they exist.

Sad to see we’re leading the way, but not surprising.

We love our libraries in Maine and some of them are drop dead gorgeous.

I’ll take least violent crime. Yay us.

Someone had way too much time on their hands.

Ugh. Allen’s Coffee Brandy was the bane of my existence when I was a teenage delinquent. Cheap, disgustingly sweet and at every party I ever attended.

I grew up in Pittsburgh and I never heard of Yuengling until I moved out the state. It was Iron City beer or nothing.

And yet it’s the oldest operating brewery in the country. Was Pottsville near you?

No. It’s in central Pennsylvania. Iron City and Duquesne breweries were in Pittsburgh. Rolling Rock was about an hour away in Latrobe. Pottsville is about 4 1/2 hours away.

I love a good library. While attending Texas Tech, I almost flunked out because I spent most of my time in the stacks, researching random subjects…

I can easily lose half a day in a library.

Interesting. On one map, WY leads the way in library visits, but on another, it’s OH. Either way, good for them.

The air and Gulf Water temperatures have dropped significantly in the last two weeks, and are no longer optimum for Hurricanes. This year was odd in that we have had ZERO hurricanes. Not even a threat. Nothing came within 500 miles. Not even a big storm. Not one formed in the Gulf. Very, very quiet this year.

That is unusual. Good news though…

The first map showing how hot it is that one can’t touch the steering wheel of you car is NO JOKE. It happens, it real and I’ve suffered from it. Nice to see Texas is great at wind energy, something positive for a change. But it seems weird that New Mexico is best at electing presidents, where where they last November? And I beg to differ on the drink that is most consumed in Texas is Ranch Water. That may be the case in east Texas but in far west Texas it’s beer and tequila, all kinds of beer, good or bad, it’s beer…..lol.

If I can’t touch my steering wheel? It’s too damn hot.

Does “fewest accidental deaths” mean most are on purpose?
For you up in Maine, it looks like time to fire up the kerosene lamps.
I guess I bring up the average here for library visits – at least once/week. My kids know the library staff at our local branch, as they haven’t changed in 30 years.
Who is measuring North Dakotans’ penises – and how does Nebraska have the most homes with indoor plumbing?

Valid questions, all.
Unfortunately I have no answers.

I guess it’s not a coincidence that Arizona is the sunniest state and now it’s cool enough to touch our steering wheels. When I first moved to Palm Springs it was summer. I sat on a penny that was in my husband’s passenger seat. It scorched me and I yelped and leaped up and sat on it again. My husband said I had a perfect heads and tails on my tail!

Yikes! That’s too hot for me.

I never forgot my first summer in Palm Springs. I ended up flying to visit my mom north of Seattle and staying there until it cooled down!

I read the good thing about PA and laughed out loud. That’s just great. I would have taken safest drivers instead, but what do I know? Clearly, Pennsylvanians enjoy casinos more than libraries, and that tracks…

I’ll take biggest cheese producer. Yay us.
(And of course, the Brandy Old Fashioned!)

I wonder about the vegan restaurants in Nevada – there’s a lot of cattle and sheep ranching in that state- being a vegan when I was a kid was akin to being a traitor. Or driving a Prius.

I imagine it’s hard going out to eat as a vegan in cattle country.
🥴

But at least the cattle and sheep are vegan.

But yes.
