  1. The irony is that many who didn’t serve and fail to grasp and respect the sacrifice have no clue that their freedom to be an *sshole about it is derived in no small part from that very sacrifice…

  2. Old vets choke you up? You ought to see me at the VA. If I don’t keep my head on a swivel it could get embarrassing.
An irredeemable debt of gratitude to all of my fellow vets,, all the way back to the beginning, so many of whom endured hardships I never had to face.
I just hope it doesn’t wind up being for nothing.

  3. There is this sign as you enter James A. Haley VA Hospital that, to me, says a lot. I hope they have this sign at every VA Hospital…VFW Post…American Legion Post….DAV Post….
“The Price of Freedom can be seen here.”
I have adopted all my fellow Vets as my sisters and brothers.

  4. I’m sorry that anti-Vietnam protests got personal on your husband’s return – that’s deplorable. Speaking as someone who would have signed up for the RAF if they’d allowed women to fly when I was young, I wonder how many people are motivated by “serving their country” as opposed to getting a bit of fun and excitement? (that would have been my motivation!)

      1. Of course… I guess he was drafted, rather than enlisting? If he did enlist, I would be interested to know what was going through his mind at the time
