And then there was snow…

.

We woke up Christmas Eve morning to a winter wonderland.

.

.

A deep snow had fallen overnight and I couldn’t have been happier.

.

.

It was the beautiful kind that coats the trees…

.

.

And frosts everything in white.

.

.

It continued for most of the morning.

.

.

Giving us the feeling we live in a snow globe.

.

.

.

.

Now this is winter!

.

.

And while my husband went out to shovel a path so he could feed the birds…

.

.

I filled the house with the scent of cinnamon and nutmeg by baking an apple pie.

.

.

We may have scaled back our holiday celebration this year, but it turned out perfectly anyway.

.

.

A front porch picture frame.

😊

.

.

And look! My husband finally put one of those stupid wooden yardsticks he’s always buying to use.

13 inches.

👍

And as soon as I posted our glorious snow photos on Facebook?

.

.

A memory of a previous Christmas trip popped up.

.

.

Florida holidays are fun…

But they never really feel like Christmas to this Yankee girl.

😉

  1. I couldn’t go for all snow, all winter, but I do enjoy the views from the different windows and walking up to town with Cathy for a cup of coffee. My cheap ass Old Navy pea coat keeps me warm all the way there and my astronaut grade snow boots keep my butt the appropriate distance from the ground at all times.
I think your apple pie looks fabulous and it’s great that you just went out there and cranked one out. We make some good food here but it usually requires planning.
What a great holiday, good for you.

  2. I’m going to be honest, I’m envious because we haven’t had snow since last January. And it was only 3 1/2 inches. And it’s going to be 65 degrees here today. What I’m not envious about is having to try and navigate snow that’s 13 inches because, that would be a disaster.

  3. Yeah. I see that and all I can think is, “Who’s going to shovel that? Oh, right. Me.”

It is beautiful, but in a only wanna visit, don’t wanna live there kinda way.

That snow-covered table looks like a massage table.

    Worst. Massage. Ever. Brr!

  4. That reminds me of the mountains, the Catskills! Looks cold. I remember kind of helping my brothers shovel snow. We now all live in milder areas where winter is not quite the flavor. We had a big farm with 2 barns, horses, goats, chickens, and a bull. Oh, dogs, and cats. My parents were like the Beverly Hillbillies, from NYC relocating. My mom was like Zza Gabor but it made us get character, quickly! Best wishes for a happy and pretty New Year!

  5. We had a big snow mid-December, and it was soooo nice to have any at all in the month of December. A little dusting again a couple of days before Christmas, so I’m callin’ it a White Christmas (based on our climate change sliding scale).😁

  6. It does look like you’re in the middle of a snowglobe! And your pie looks yummy and I can only imagine the smell inside your home. I’m glad you guys had a good Christmas, in spite of missing your trip.
