.
I enjoy Brussels sprouts for dinner now and then, and have had tasty shaved sprouts salads….
.

.
But no.
To the name and the idea.
🤢
.

.
I beg to differ.
Has anyone measured our President?

I found this old picture of us on the back of a lobster boat in a drawer the other day. Taken a few years after we were married, maybe 1988? My hair was a mess from being on the water, but I fondly remember having two fully functional (and thin!) knees.
.

.
I can see that.
.

.
Am I the only one who never knew this?
🥴

Gorgeous gams!

Thanks!
They used to be…
Sigh.

Not trying to talk you into knee replacement, but my husband’s scar looks surprisingly good. I thought it would be awful, but it’s really not. It’s totally flat. (in case that’s on your list of worries)

No, the scar isn’t really a factor. I’m just a surgery-phobe. Only ever had one and not looking forward to the long recovery period.

I feel you. Not sure I’d do it myself…unless I really couldn’t enjoy my life.
When we went to the pre-op seminar, they encouraged people to picture all the things they’d be able to do when fully healed…from traveling the world to simple stuff like walking down an aisle in the grocery store with no pain.

I guess I’m just worried about finding the right orthopedist. The two I saw previously were not helpful and the guy everyone I ask recommends doesn’t accept our insurance ( military Tricare ).

Insurance is such a pain!! And finding someone you trust is so important!
If Boston area is an option, Dr. Sean Rockett (Newton-Wellesley) is trustworthy.

Thanks… but that’s a long drive to make appointments and check ups. I think I need someone closer to home.

Yeah. Too bad the guy everyone likes isn’t on your insurance ☹️

I like Brussels sprouts. I like pickled things. But pickled sprouts? No, thank you.
That snail/slug meme is a real gem.
While I knew how to boil things, I never made the connection between whether they grow above or below ground. 🤔

Wow River, those are some great legs! But, we all had them when we were young. I remember thinking I had great legs too, then I had kids and my calves became cows and have struggled to find boots to fit these damn cows 🫤. I like Brussels sprouts, but not enough to have them pickled, yuck. I knew about boiling certain veggies in cold water first in my home economics class, been doing it all my life.

Unless I’m blanching I pretty much start everything in cold water… guess I shouldn’t.
As for young legs, yes I miss them being toned and attractive … but I really miss a pain free knee and being able to wear heels without a bunion.
Getting old sucks!

Getting old beats the hell out of the alternative, if you ask me.

So 80s! I love that photo and I also really miss my knees from the 80s

I never gave much thought to knees… until one of mine broke.

This will probably come as no surprise at all, but I have had (and love) pickled Brussel’s sprouts…especially in a Bloody Mary. Never heard ’em referred to by that name though.

You’re right.
This surprises me not at all…

I thought they sounded good, too. I suspect folks who hate Brussels sprouts have only had them boiled to death.

It’s more a distaste of pickling for me ….

That was my gateway, and hence, why I hated them for so long.

Yes I thought that recipe looked pretty good – might give it a go

What a lovely picture of you! That snail thing is funny. I HAVE actually heard the boil v. cold water thing, but I sort of forgot/ignored it. Now that I’ve been reminded again, I’ll try to be more mindful of it. What an intriguing thing. And who discovers this? Are we being had?

If I find it on the Internet, I’m always suspicious of being had. AI hallucinations are everywhere.
At this point I’m not even sure you’re human…

I wonder that about myself sometimes too. 😉

I like Brussels sprouts, but definitely not pickled. That sounds disgusting.
Plus the name. I won’t eat Rocky Mountain oysters either, but that may be a guy thing.

I like the picture. And, since I don’t like Brussel Sprouts or Frogs, the recipe is useless to me. Lol

Never knew that last one either

Are you expecting a Nor’ Easter?

Not a N’Or Easter, just 3-6 inches coming in overnight for us.

So did you get your 3-6 inches? Our 3-6 inches turned into all night rain and a few flurries in the morning.

It’s just about to start. Ours will come in overnight…

Oooh I like all of these images! I like pickled things, I laughed at the divorce (my husband is the snail), I never thought about my knees until I tore mine, and I didn’t know that about boiling. How full-circle we’ve come that I will ask a cooking-expert friend to verify!

Healthy knees are a perfect example of all the things we take for granted until they break.

Laughing at the snail/slugs!
We never fully appreciate our working limbs/parts/insides until they stop doing so. I hope you’ve made some progress on getting attention to your not-so-happy knee.
