Bad timing, good progress and a wombat.

Eleven days after my partial knee replacement surgery?

My husband left me.

You can pick your jaw up off the floor, it was only for the weekend.

His 60th high school reunion in western Connecticut was scheduled long before I had a surgery date and plans had been made, deposits paid. We debated long and hard if he should go, but I’m doing well and I knew he was looking forward to it… so an abbreviated solo trip was taken.

He left Friday afternoon with another gorgeous fall flower arrangement in the passenger seat for the wife of the friend he would be staying with.

Guests should never arrive empty handed.

He had a good time and though I had a girlfriend who came to help while he was gone, the poor man felt guilty and didn’t even stay through Sunday as planned.

One of his old classmates wrote and distributed this at the reunion, asking them all to sing.

Corny, but the husband got a kick out of the tune.

Song for our 60th Class Reunion,

(Sung to the tune of the Marines Hymn (“From the Halls of Montezuma”

It’s our six-ti-eth re-un-ion now, that is quite a feat it’s true.

We have so much to be grateful for, seeing all we still can do.

Cel-e-bra-ting with some special friends, and connecting once a-gain

It’s a great re-un-ion time for all, from beginning to the end.

Some more wrin-kles and some gray-ing hair, but who cares that’s what we see.

We all look so awesome, that’s for sure, if you don’t look care-ful-ly.

And our at-ti-tude is all that counts, look at ev-ry-one who’s here.

Years and years of friendships still endure, and to all that’s very clear.

So to sixty years we raise a glass, and give all a great big shout,

And con-tinue to en-joy our friends be-cause that’s what it’s about.

So hurray for all of us this year, don’t be-gin to hes-i-tate.

Keep on laugh-ing, lov-ing ev-ry-day, and con-tin-ue to be great!!!!!

Meanwhile, I have one more home occupational therapy appointment and am then scheduled for out patient rehab. The company emailed me a link to fill out the paperwork ahead of time, which I did.

Though it took all my restraint not to choose the last option….

And answer wombat.

13 days post surgery?

I’m still stiff, sore and have a little bit of nerve numbness around the incision… but the swelling has gone down considerably.

So Frankenstein scar aside, I’m a happy camper.
