A dear-able.

.

The late season Bambi is back and not looking quite so evil this time.

.

.

Eat up little one, winter is coming and you’ve got a lot of pounds to pack on before the white stuff falls.

.

.

The big buck was here as well.

.

.

As was his son from last year whose felt is starting to shed.

.

.

Hard to believe we still have a spotted fawn this late in the year. Makes me worry.

.

.

Fall is here and with such a terribly dry summer the pickings aren’t good.

.

.

The rut will be here shortly.

.

.

And this guy will be very busy.

  1. I wonder if the timetable’s shifting slightly in your neck of the woods, as it is here, because of changes in the climate. Our winters (i.e. snow on the ground) are starting later and lasting a bit longer into the next year. Wildlife eventually has to adjust to thrive. Hopefully your fawn will be fine this winter. Chances are better if her smart mama keeps bringing her by your place to dine.

  2. Twice this week I have nearly run into a giant buck on my early morning walks. I mean that literally. When it’s semi-dark still, you turn a corner, and find yourself just a few feet away from a massive deer who not only doesn’t find your presence unsettling but rather takes a tentative step toward you, you give him a very wide berth.
