.
Have you heard of Joel Sartore?
.
.
Arctic Fox.
If not, let me rectify that.
.
.
.
Tiger Striped Tree Frog.
Joel has made it his mission in life to photograph the approximately 12,000 species living in zoos and wildlife sanctuaries.
.
.
Brown Throated Sloth.
But Joel’s photographs are different.
.
.
Springbok Mantis.
They’re special.
.
.
Mandrill.
Because they’re portraits.
.
.
Spectacled Eiders.
Stunning portraits of glorious diversity.
.
.
California Sea Lion.
Joel believes if we see these marvelous creatures… we’ll feel something.
.
.
Andean Condor.
We’ll care.
.
.
Sumatran Rhinoceros.
And if we care, we’ll fight to preserve not only them, but the habitats they need to thrive.
.
.
DeBrazza’s Monkey.
Joel is my hero. And I’ve bought all 3 of his incredible books.
.
.
As I make my way through them, I’m going to share some of his work.
Because they make me feel.
Because they make me care.
Not all of the animals are beautiful.
.
.
Common Warthog.
But all of them are perfect… and worth protecting.
.
I do believe you’ve discovered one of my Christmas presents to my youngest and his family.

Next time I need a passport photo, I will give him a call. Anybody that can make a rhinoceros look that good can most certainly make my mug more presentable.

I had not heard of Joel Sartore before, but I love those photos and the work he is doing. I may make that a Christmas gift for someone this year now, too. Thanks!

BEAUTIFUL…………..and I already care. Animals behaving like…well, animals are better than ANY sitcom on tv, any movie they could ever make. I love watching them.

As soon as I win the super lotto I am going to buy acres and acres of land and open a sanctuary for wild animals so that they can live wild and unbothered by humans!! And the first will be a hippo!!

I enjoyed the clip you did post . . . especially that chimpanzee who decided to redesign the photo backdrop.

The warthog’s face is full of such deep wisdom. If God was here on Earth and he was a warthog that would be the warthog. What an indictment against humanity that we put these animals in zoos – I fear for them in a time of unrest where everyone is out for themselves. But the idiots in authority don’t think or care about that.

I adore warthogs, they have a quirky, quiet dignity. As for the zoos, I agree. Although with our rampant destruction of these beautiful creatures habitats, I fear that’s where most of them will end up.
