.
I, along with what is probably half of the WordPress blogging population, despise the new block editor.
.
.
I refuse to use it and have happily switched back to classic every time I compose posts on my phone.
.
.
On the app, it’s one easy click and bam! Back to the simple, no frills way to post I’ve enjoyed since the day I got here. And then it happened. While fritzing around on my phone and seeing 11 of my apps needed updating today…. I scrolled down to WP.
.
.
Noooo! The WordPress team assured me I could keep my beloved classic if I chose… and now I feel betrayed. Needless to say I didn’t update the app, which may forestall the inevitable. But for someone like me who has photo heavy blogs and doesn’t want all the added headaches of blocks, this is a nightmare.
.
.
I’m not! No matter how many times you try to shove them down my throat. And hey, if you like and want the new editor? Fine. Enjoy it with my compliments… but why can’t they leave the old option open for those of us who don’t? Happiness Engineers my ass.
.
Just do it already! You’ll feel so much better afterwards!

I won’t! *She says as she stamps her feet.*

Fine! Wait until they shove you off the plank but it’ll hurt less if you jump right in.

I’ve played with it and just don’t like it. I don’t…. and you can’t make me!

There must be some law in tech land that says you must make user experience suck as much as possible. 😡

New is not always better. Sometimes it’s just new….

Forced to use it, I am adapting, but I am really irritated that captioning a picture is so hard and the results are so poor compared to the classic editor.
Many math instructors fail to understand why their students are having problems because it is so easy for the instructor. It is the same with IT professionals. It seems easy for them, so they can’t understand why the average consumer is having a problem.

I’m sure I can figure it out if I have to…. but why should I have to? Just leave the option for us luddites.

Two words, “Classic Block.”
I know, you already made your feelings known, but it truly is the next best thing.
I’ll shut up now and go sit with the red squirrel.

On the computer, that’s fine…. but my phone app doesn’t have it and that’s where I do most of my posting.

Ah, you’re right. The Classic block is unsupported in the app. 🙁

I haven’t updated it so I’m fine for now…. but if I suddenly drop off the site, you’ll know why.

This is all covered in the new brainwashing app the HE are rolling out next week. This is exactly timed with the rolling back of the contentment app. Rumor has it it will only hurt for a year or six. Hurry up and enjoy it while you still can. Next year they are going to upgrade the block editor to the leggo editor. PS remember WP stands for Whata Pain.

Ha! Well, I’ve been content at WP for 3 years…. I should have known it was too good to last.

Having only started blogging a month ago, I didn’t know there was a non block option. As a teacher and a person who writes a great deal, I have found it silly and often confounding. I’m with you, Riv!

The old Classic editor was extremely user friendly and simple to use. This nightmare was forced on us last year and I despise it.

Amen sista!! I’m with you all the way, I HATE the block editor, and those bastards at WP should give us the option as which we want….fml. 😡

I guess I just don’t understand what’s wrong with having both.

I don’t use apps, so I’m not sure what they plan to do about posting on their website itself…. but I do know that Classic has been bugged for about a month now with the toolbar refusing the follow you down the post (Making me scroll all the way up, then all the way down every time I want to add a picture or alter the text). I took it as a deliberate attempt to force people into an editor they have clearly said they don’t freaking want. They also eliminated the “classic” stats page from the “classic” Admin page I’d long had bookmarked. WordPress is completely going in the shitter…

I haven’t had that scrolling problem, but yes… they’re making it harder to stick with classic and I just hate them for it!

I go directly to the website as well…no app. So far no issues.

I write everything in a word processor and past it all in one big stinking block! Take THAT, WP!!!

Ha! I doubt that would work for me…. too many photos.

I can now see the frustration with the app. My prev phone was smaller and only showed a few block options, making it extremely easy to use, despite limitations. My new phone shows all the blocks and it’s too much!! All I need are paragraph, image, and gallery. I haven’t see a way to org favs at the top or, better yet, only display favs.

I know I’m in the minority, but I’ve never minded it. Guess that makes me a blockhead…

And it’s fine that you like it. But leave classic for those of us who don’t!

Ah well–you can’t teach an old dog new tricks–or something like that–I am doing less and less posting every week!

I do not use the app. I go to the .com site, and have had no issues with the classic editor. I just hit “write” and type away. Maybe I am just not making my blog posts creative enough.

I love the app…. but won’t be updating it this time.

I’m getting used to it however I cannot figure out how to do a slideshow. They should have NEVER touched it. It wasn’t broke, don’t fix it.
