A while back my husband dragged an ottoman into the living room. The fact that it barely matches the armchair and doesn’t match the sofas at all drives me crazy….
.
.
But it’s perfectly Lord Dudley Mountcatten sized and he loves it …
.
.
So it stays. Sigh.
.
.
Can someone please explain this to me…. because honestly, I’m flummoxed. Who in their right mind craves alcohol free gin?
.
.
Live your best life… without alcohol? People really do be crazy.

Why am I posting a photo of our water heater? Because the insanely expensive, fancy schmancy hybrid heat pump unit we installed barely 3 years ago is dead. After 2 visits from our plumber and one from the company’s rep, it was determined the computerized control board has malfunctioned. It’s a rarity, but once in a while you get a lemon. And we all know if there’s a lemon to be found? We will find it. Problem is, the boards are expensive and no one has them in stock.
.
.
But along with the aggravation comes a new appreciation for why people only bathed once a month in olden days. Heating pots of water, and schlepping them to the tub is bad enough, but trying to duck in out of the cold shower spray long enough to wash and condition a head of long hair is torture. Maine well water in early spring? Like a quick dip in the Arctic Ocean…. minus the penguins. So if you happen to see me in the grocery store this week? Be sure and pass upwind. I haven’t showered in 3 days..
🤢

We have mismatched ottomans here, too. Kind of bothers me, too. As for your water heater, lucky, lucky you. Machines are wonderful until they aren’t.

I once heard an “expert” on some PBS show talk about an “eclectic mix” style of finishing a room. Nice things that don’t match. Hey, Dudley approves. Sorry about the water heater. Companies should be required to stock parts for 3-5 years beyond what they advertise is the useful life of something.

Their answer to that was the board never goes bad. Well guess what? It did.

As I said, if there’s one faulty machine in 10,000…. it will be ours.

Get an old model water heater. The worst they do is explode.
We got a lemon water heater a couple of decades ago. All the wiring burned out the first day…

We replaced a water heater that was almost 30 years old. I hated to see her go….

Ugh…no hot water, fml. So, what’s the solution going to be? Will y’all buy another one? Sir Dudley looks positively awesome on his new ottoman.

Not buying another one. This one is still under warranty!

Best of luck getting a hot shower soon. If not at home, then maybe at a neighbor’s!

The ottoman picks up the tiny bit of green in the flowered chair, so it does fit the living room decor. Hope that makes you feel a bit better about it :). My husband had a fit when I bought a tiny footstool to rest my feet on – it’s the right color, but truly tiny. He objected that it looks like a piece of kids’ furniture. Too bad. It makes sitting more comfortable for me and it’s just big enough to fit my feet without taking up too much of the limited floor space in our living room.
When we moved into our current home, we hade to wait 2 weeks for a hot water tank (long story, maybe someday I’ll tell it). Fortunately, we hadn’t yet moved completely out of the old house so each night, hubby and I would each drive 20 minutes to and 20 minutes from the old house to take showers. I was so glad when that situation finally got resolved. The night the new hot water tank was installed and I got a hot shower in my own new home, I actually cheered.

It’s amazing how reliant we are on modern conveniences. And we never realize it until we lose it….
