My mom used to work in greenhouses like those. Hot, humid and smelling of fertilizer… she LOVED that job. It was like she was a teenager all over again.
Well, she fought for it. My dad wanted her to stay home because her working was a reflection on his ability to support the family. But, we kids were teenagers and really didn’t need her around constantly and she was bored out of her mind.
Yet another reason for me to be jealous. What a great and sustainable neighbor you have, you can get fresh veggies in walking distance? Yes definitely jealous, and yes I like kale….🥬🥬🥬
We did their CSA last year, but they grow a lot of things we don’t eat ( yes, kale I’m talking to you ) so now we just walk over and buy what we want. It’s marvelous!

There’s something very rewarding about watching things grow. Unless it’s mold, no one wants that.

Nope. If the husband plants it? It’s on its own. Survival of the fittest, which is why 3/4’s of the apple trees he planted last year died.

They just started harvesting blueberries, raspberries and blackberries. Pure heaven!

Actually, you said they weren’t home, right? Pretty sure you could’ve come home with something fresher if you’d plucked it from the ground yourselves.
