Looks like winter is finally here.

.

I woke up this morning to an old fashioned winter temperature.

.

.

We haven’t seen this for a while so I can’t say it bothers me. And if it was a little colder like the northern part of our state, I might try this…

.

.

Crazy cold doesn’t begin to describe northern Maine.

.

.

Judging from the weather forecast, things are going to get interesting here on Saturday as well with an old fashioned N’or Easter.

.

.

I say bring it!

I love the big snow dumps and we’re in the 10-20” zone so… yay!

  1. I thought I was going to go first…stupid clumsy hands! That’s a great homemade snow pic. It’s going to be cold this weekend but nothing like that. There will still be a sizable stack of firewood beside my back door. Have fun.

  2. Nope….and nope. I’ll do with the 29 degree weather here in El Paso right now. I’ve never experienced minus degree weather and I’ll keep it like that. Although I, at one point, wanted to retire to Ann Arbor Michigan. But I came to my senses when I heard and saw what Michigan winters were like, I decided…..no.

  3. If that doesn’t drive Ms. Red Squirrel into hibernation for the duration, I don’t know what will. If she goes to doze in one of your buildings, surely you won’t be heartless as to send her out into the cold, cruel world?

  4. Our Stanley Red Squirrel only came out every third or fourth day through December and the early part of January. Seeing as you are nowhere as cold as we were then, I don’t expect Ms Red will take any time off. If the snow covers her door, though, she might wait to see how long before it melts.
But have fun in the snow. It really is a great season, as long as you are appropriately dressed. And do try making the frozen rainbow. It looks spectacular!

  5. I look at temperatures below -40 and they remind me I had a bottle of liquid mercury when I was a kid. Just once I wanted to see it in solid form, but it never got cold enough for that.
Of course the water trick makes better pictures and looks like a lot more fun.

      1. I always wore gloves when playing with it, although I also had a friend whose son once decided to see what would happen when he boiled mercury. They had to have a hazmat team clean their house and take a whole regimen of pills.
